John Robert Wall, age 94, of Fargo, ND died in Sanford Hospice House on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, with his daughters by his side. He was born on September 3, 1931, on the family farm near Carbury, ND to Bernard (Ben) and Alma (Seter) Wall.

John was baptized and confirmed in the Turtle Mountain Lutheran Church near Carbury, ND. He attended grade school in Carbury, ND and graduated from Bottineau High in 1949. He attended the Bottineau School of Forestry, transferred to the University of ND and received his accounting degree in 1954. He was drafted into the United States Army on September 1, 1954, and was assigned to the Finance Corps. He was sent to Augsburg, Germany in December of 1954, and was attached to the 5th Infantry Division. He was discharged on August 31, 1956. He spent six more years in the inactive reserves.

John worked for Broeker and Hendrickson CPAs from December of 1956 until March of 1971 when he started his own CPA firm. In October of 1989, he merged with his firm into Eide Helmeke/Eide Bailly LLP. He received his CPA certificate in 1964 and belonged to the ND and MN CPA Societies and the AICPA. He received the Lifetime award from the NDSCPAs, served on the Board of the Society’s RD Koppenhaver Foundation and was honored by the Society for 60 years as a CPA.

John married Joan Mae Emerson, daughter of Selmer and Thelma (Torgerson) Emerson, of Bottineau, ND on September 20, 1958, at First Lutheran Church in Bottineau and they lived in Fargo all their married life, where they raised two daughters, Janessa and Jeanine. John was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church. He served on the Church council from 1968-1970, during which time the north campus sanctuary was built. He started Hope’s money counting process in 1968, was captain of a counting team for 44 years and ushered for 50 years. He served 8 years on the Hope Lutheran Foundation board.

John was a proud member of Lake Agassiz Kiwanis for over 53 years and past President. He also served on many other boards in the community. He was a member of the American Legion, Sons of Norway and Bison Team Makers. He loved all sports.

He is survived by his daughters Janessa (Joe) Delvo, Fargo and Jeanine (Alan) Hebert, Bismarck; grandsons Christopher Delvo, Fargo and Andrew (Samantha) Delvo; great granddaughters Evelyn and Adaline, Casselton, ND; brother Kenneth Wall, New Hope, MN; brother-in-law Larry Pederson, Valley City, ND; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by wife Joan; brothers, Harold (Katherine, Mary), Russell (June) and Howard (Frances) Wall; sisters Ione (Nels) Skarphol, Doris (John) Birkner and Lorraine (Owen) Bjorke; one nephew; as well as in-laws Joyce and Willie Lystad, Patricia and Ivan Erickson and Connie Pederson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Hope Lutheran Church – North campus with visitation at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Foundation.
