Lorraine B. Johnson, age 84, of Hillsboro, ND died on Friday, September 19, 2008 at her home with her family by her side. Lorraine was born on June 11, 1924 to Charlie and Elvina Jorgensen of rural Galesburg, ND. She was baptized and confirmed in Stordahl Lutheran Church near Galesburg. She graduated from Hunter High School. Lorraine worked at the Hunter Goss Telephone Company, Hunter Bank and the Hunter Elevator. She moved from Hunter to Fargo to work for the First National Bank of Fargo. Four years later she married Eugene Johnson of Casselton, ND and farmed there with his father and mother for nine years. They moved to Colgate, ND and farmed for two years. In 1956 they moved to a farm near Hillsboro where they lived until 1975 when they moved into the city of Hillsboro. Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper for Equity Elevator Company. Lorraine and Eugene raised five children. Lorraine will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and a kind and gentle friend. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Eugene of Hillsboro; her children, Linda (Mel) Loucks of Glendale, CA; Susan Salvucci of Bakersfield, CA; David (Nancy) Johnson of Hillsboro, ND; Mary Johnson of Bakersfield, CA; and Sandra (Doug) Kiserow of Cary, NC; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Arden Jorgensen of Fargo, ND; and Eldon Jorgensen of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
