It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Ryne Stigman, age 35, of Walcott, North Dakota, who passed away on November 1, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Daren and Karla Stigman welcomed Josh into this world on February 8, 1990, in Fargo.

He attended school in Kindred and graduated from Delano High School in 2008.
Joshua dedicated over two decades of his life to the Hawk’s Market in Kindred. Known for his creativity, he was an accomplished writer, crafting screenplays and stories that reflected his vivid imagination. He enjoyed reading and loved to draw.

Josh was a role model for his younger brothers and sister. Josh’s bond with his brother, Aaron, was especially significant; they were best friends who loved attending concerts and movies together, often discussing movies in exuberant detail. Josh shared his love of video and board games with brothers, Aidan and Jimmy. Lacey and Josh bonded over music. His love of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was shared with Uncle Erik. In June 2024, Josh met his soulmate Kelsey McFarlane, and the two became engaged, with plans to solidify their love and be married in the spring of 2026.

He is survived by his parents, Daren (Jeanie) Stigman and Karla (Mike) Jostad; his fiancée, Kelsey McFarlane; his adored cat, Shiva; and his siblings, Aaron (KD) Jostad, Lacey (Andrew) Ronningen, Aidan Stigman, and Jimmy Stigman. Josh will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, including Isaac Mithun, CJ Jostad, Eli Mithun, and Thor Joshua Jostad. He is further survived by his grandparents, Diane Myers, Jerry Stigman, and Eileen (Jim) Plath; aunts and uncles, Meghan (Erik) Thompsen, Hilary Plath, Rob Plath, Eric (Paula) Myers, Jeremy Myers, Michelle (Paul) Mansfield, Scott (Rhonda) Jostad, Sandy (Ken) Van Etten and many cousins.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard “Bumpa” Myers and Kathy Stigman.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I made it a point, every time I went in the store and Josh was working, to make him laugh at one of my Rachel Randoms. Eli and I will miss him dearly.

  2. I was so very sad to hear of Josh’s passing. I will miss visiting with him at the grocery store. At times I think I annoyed him with my cheery greetings when I would come into the store, but I actually think he secretly appreciated our conversations. At least I like to think so. My sincere sympathy to his family.

  3. I am so sorry. I will say prayers for you all as you mourn Josh.

  4. Always fun to talk with and very friendly good guy.
    God bless you, brother.

  5. Josh & I went to 4 grade-highschool together and he and I rode the bus together as kids as he lived down the road from me. We always shared laughs and had a good time messing with the bus driver. I used to always pop into the grocery store and chit chat with him. Tons of prayers to everyone…. Josh was an extremely kind person who worked hard and he will be extremely missed.

  6. Josh was always ready with a “HI” when I saw him. I remember teaching him in Sunday School many years ago. He was shy, yet willing to help out whenever necessary. Blessed be the memory of Josh.

  11. So sorry to learn about Josh’s passing. In my 6 years working as a vendor for Hawks Market, I spoke to him frequently. He was always friendly and a pleasure to speak with.
Prayers to all that knew and loved him. May he rest in peace. He will be missed.
