Joshua’s Live Streamed Celebration of Life Service can be viewed below:

Joshua was born on March 1, 1977 and left this earth in the arms of his Heavenly Father on August 20, 2022.

Joshua lived his entire life to be there for others. He gave of himself in whatever way he could to anyone he could-whether that was volunteering at church, praying with a stranger, helping a friend move, fixing a computer or lending a few dollars until payday; the list was endless and he gave his all.

Joshua could talk to anyone about anything and you were immediately his friend. Talk to him for very long and you knew of his faith, his video game recommendations, his next wood working project, that Die Hard is the best Christmas movie ever, the good and bad about his Chicago Bears and Blackhawks, and most of all, his love for his family.

Although Joshua could smile big and laugh like no other, he struggled with mental illness and depression for years, He fought hard but could no longer keep up that fight. He will be missed, so very much, by all who love him.

Joshua is survived by his wife Staci, who was incredibly fortunate to hear every day that she was the love of his life and his “favorite”, his sons Brodey, Steven, Justin and Nathan, daughter Lachlyn, and grandchildren Eva, Brandt, and Kegan. Joshua is also survived by his mother Jill, father Reed (Lorray), sister Jodi (Phil), brothers Tony (Missy), John (Luda), Scott (Chantel), along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

All who knew Joshua knew he lived and breathed his Chicago Bears and Blackhawks. Please wear your favorite team jersey (yes, even Vikings fans) and join his family in a celebration of Joshua’s life and love.

Guestbook

  1. My heart hurts knowing I will never again hear Josh say, “Hun, I’m gonna teach you to fish!” (Regarding computer skills). But, I know he is pain free. He knows all of the secrets and is in the presence of The Lord.
I have prayed for you-his family- and will continue, that you know the Peace of The Lord. He spoke of you all so much. He loved you all while he was here and I have no doubt that he continues from Heaven.
    -Cassie Skalicky

  2. I had the good fortune of being Josh’s first wife; although there were many times I saw it as a misfortune. We were very young, and when you throw two children into the mix, it’s a recipe for disaster. We just couldn’t make it work. Through the years, we struggled to see eye to eye, but managed to get things figured out along the way. For the last several years, Josh and I were more than just cordial; we became friends. Wishing each other happy birthday, mother’s/father’s day and checking in from time-to-time, trading jabs and light-hearted teasing. I can’t express enough how grateful I am for being able to put our pain and anger aside and learning how to co-parent together. We may not have been destined for eternal happiness together, but we made two wonderful children and became dear friends. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Josh, and this loss will forever weigh heavy on us. Josh, I promise you, I’ll do whatever I can to continue raising the kids to the best of my ability and I’ll never ever forget what you told me…

  3. There are no words. I’m so sorry for your loss. May God lift you up in prayer during this difficult time. God Speed.

  4. Josh was my favorite I.T. guy at LSS. It seemed as if he had the perfect amount of patience, some witty joke, a little education about his “meat” way of life, a story to share of his family, and a love for Jesus each time we visited! My prayers are with you all today, and in the days ahead.

  5. I’m saddened by this news. I met Josh in a men’s group through church. He was a good, kind man with high character. I’m glad that our paths in life crossed, if for but a short time. Richest blessings to those he leaves behind and let the memories of his kindness carry on through you all.

  6. Staci and family,

I’ll always remember the fun that we had at the lakes when we all got together!
I’m so sorry for your loss. May God guide you and comfort you in the days ahead and always.
    Love ya!

  7. My heart hurts for all of Josh’s loved ones…but my heart smiles with my memories of Josh❣️RIP my one and only nephew ☮️&❤️For you now & forever❣️

  8. Prayers from Minot. We will not be there in person, but we will be there in thought and spirit. May God give you the strength to see you through this incredible loss. We love you Stacey and family.

  9. Josh was always kind and patient with me and we shared the greatest bond of all, a deep love for our Savior.

Deep condolences and prayers for strength for the family.

    -Greg.

  10. Staci our prayers are with you during these hard times and Joshua is in his peace . It was very nice to know him it the Lake Party’s very nice gentleman.

  11. I knew Josh from my prior work at LSS. He was one of my favorite people. He was always willing to help when needed and was fun to joke around with. He will be greatly missed by so many.

  12. My condolences to the family and loved ones of Josh’s. We were high school sweethearts and attended 2 proms together. We cruised the streets of DL in his white Camaro that he LOVED! As much as my grandparents and I tried to turn him into a Vikings fan- we never won that debate. Josh was always kind, sweet, and an adoring friend! Although it was 27 years ago- some of the memories seem like yesterday. May Josh Rest In Peace and may his family and loved ones cherish their memories and Godspeed your healing. Much love, Amy (Walker) Pedersen

  13. I had the pleasure of meeting and working alongside Josh at GPT in Mapleton. He was a kind and gentle soul, always willing to help others, and go above and beyond to help out a friend. His smile and laugh could warm your heart. He will be truly missed, but I know he is no longer hurting inside. Blessing of comfort and peace to all those who knew him.

  14. I had the privilege to cross paths with Josh when I worked at LSSND. He not only knew a lot about the technology world, but was so willing & kind hearted to help out this technically challenged girl & helped me out of many binds! He never made you feel stupid for asking the obvious questions! He radiated love, kindness and patience to all who knew him & you had no doubt the love he had for Jesus! May God hold you & your family in the palm of his hands & may you feel Gods arms wrapped around you at this time. My condolences and prayers for you all!

  15. I am SO glad we got to spend that brief and hectic weekend getting to know each other in 2008.
    May God bless your soul.
    Love ya
    Your Big Sis,
    Andi

  16. Grace and peace be with the family. May you experience Gods love surround you during this time of loss

  17. My heart hurts for the family. Josh is at peace from the darkness that mental illness creates. Please know my prayers are with you all.

Josh taught me so much when my computer was down. Saved me many times.

    Former LSSND.
