Joyce Edith Woitzel, 75, passed away September 4, 2022 in Pelican Rapids, MN under the care of hospice.

Joyce was born August 26, 1947 to George and Signe (Johnson) Svare in Pelican Rapids, MN. She was raised by Minda and Joseph Redmond in Hunter, ND. She attended school in Hunter and graduated from Hunter High School in 1965. She was united in marriage with Allen Woitzel on November 6, 1965. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Grandin, ND.

Joyce worked along with Allen on their Grandin farm for over 50 years. During the summers, Joyce enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin on Big Cormorant Lake. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, doing arts and crafts, playing piano, tending to her farm animals and pets, and spending time with family.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 56 years, Allen of Gardner; daughters, Sara (Jeff) Metzger of Pelican Rapids, with their children Megan (Darion) Hannesson, Thomas Metzger, and Lucas Metzger of Fargo; Chantelle Woitzel (Jacob Ham) of Fargo, ND; sister, Charlotte Woitzel of Fargo, ND, Gloria (Joe) Patocka of East Grand Forks, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chad W. Woitzel; brother, Charles Svare; and sister, Eleanor Luebeck.

  3. I am so sorry for your loss. Joyce was a beautiful person inside and out. She just beamed when Her family was with her. It was so fun to see her enjoying herself at Megan’s wedding last year. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
