Joyce Schroeder

Joyce Ona Schroeder, 80, passed away in her home on Wednesday, November 24, 2010.

Joyce was born to Horace and Eva (Gammel) Eames in Watford City, ND on September 4, 1930.  When she was 4 years old her family left farming and moved to Fargo, ND.  She attended school in Fargo and had a very happy childhood along with her elder brother Fred.  At age 17 she traveled to the West Coast and from there down to Oklahoma where she was briefly married.  In 1955 she met her true partner in life, Darrel R. Schroeder.  They married in Phoenix, AZ on January 21, 1955.  They were stationed in various places around the United States via the military.  On August 4, 1965 Joyce and Darrel welcomed their only daughter, Sheila K.  After Darrel retired from the Air Force in 1971, the family moved back to her home, Fargo, ND.  Through the years Joyce held many jobs in retail and cleaning, but none compared to being a caregiver to her 3 grandchildren from their births into their toddler years.  Joyce was a compassionate caregiver to her family, friends and neighbors.  She took care of Darrel until his death on October 4, 1996. 

In June 2008 June moved into the Evergreen's of Fargo, her residence until her death.  Joyce will be remembered for her strong spirit, colorful storytelling, artistic nature, and appreciation of all things beautiful.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila K. (David) Stastny, Fargo, ND; granddaughter, Laura (Robert) Gerrich, Fargo, ND; grandsons, Adam Stastny and Michael Stastny, both Fargo, ND; Step-granddaughter, Sally (Cory) Trottier, West Fargo, ND; step-grandson, James (April) Stastny, Moorhead, MN; step-great-grandson, Andrew Trottier, West Fargo, ND; brothers-in-law, Raymond Schroeder, Stewartville, MN, Duane (Marion) Schroeder, Albert Lea, MN, Roger Randall, Albert Lea, MN; many nieces and nephews.
