Born in: Seattle , Washington
Resided in: Fargo, North Dakota

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Anne Maier, who peacefully departed from this world on October 7, 2024, at Eventide Nursing Facility in Fargo, ND. Judith, affectionately known as Judie, was born on January 6, 1946, in Seattle, Washington to Karl and Evelyn Getz.

Growing up on the farmstead in Baker, MN, Judie graduated from Barnesville High School in 1964. She embarked on her career journey, initially with the post office in Baker before transitioning to Fargo. Along the way, Judie pursued her passion for hairstyling, attending Joseph’s School of Hair Design and becoming a licensed hairstylist. She started out working at Tom’s Towers and after working at various salons, she took on roles in beauty supply stores for hairstylists, culminating in her retirement from Salon Centric.

Upon retirement, Judie was able to spend more time with friends and family. She found joy in simple pleasures, from kayaking on the lake and playing cards with her sister, Marjo, to leisurely walks with her beloved dog, Gio. Even after retirement, she worked part time at Costco to keep busy.

Judie is survived by her daughters, RaeAnn (Jeff) Berg and Melissa Maier; grandchildren, Sally Schneider, Molly Berg and Carter Maier; sisters, Marjo (Jerry) Nelson, Mara (Eric) Parise; and brother, Marvin Getz.

Judie was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Evelyn Getz.

  1. I always enjoyed visiting with Judie at Eventide. I loved her humor and she was so nice to my Dad. Thoughts are with her family ❤️

    • She will be missed. I had the pleasure of calling her my friend and coworker. We worked together at the beauty supply store For years. she loved her clients and took pride in what she did. Rest in peace my friend.

  2. Judie worked for my Dad at Tom’s Towers and was always an absolute delight to be around. She would stop by my Dad’s house when we were caring for him in his final weeks. Even during a somber occasion, she was a big ray of sunshine. Rest in Peace.
