Julia Frye

julia frye

Julia Louise (DeFalco) Frye, 88, was lifted up by the Lord to heaven on Friday, May 27, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She had just celebrated her 88th birthday the week before surrounded by family and friends.

Julia was the matriarch of her family. She most loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, eating Italian food, visiting with friends and going shopping. She was also a devout Catholic and a long-time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in north Fargo.

Julia was born May 20, 1923, in central Pennsylvania. It's where she eventually met and married her loving husband, Richard Dean Frye. "Dick" had just returned from serving in Europe for the U.S. Army during World War II. Julia's family helped him recover from a serious battle wound.

After marriage, the couple moved to the Midwest - Dick's original home. Julia supported Dick during his career into higher education there, and he eventually became a professor of entomology at North Dakota State University in Fargo. She was preceded in death by him. They were married 54 years.

Julia is survived by her daughters Janice (Frye) Gion and Cynthia (Frye) Neubauer and grandchildren Richard Gion, Jonathan Neubauer, Christian Gion and Katherine Neubauer.

  1. Fargo ND
I was so saddened to learn of Jule’s death. I didn’t realize she had been ill.
She was always a very cheerful person. I know all of her family meant so much to her–really, they were her life. You will hear more from me later, but I just wanted to let you know how shocked we all have been. It hardly seems that she is really gone. God bless her, and all of the family. May she rest in peace. Love, Joan Mulkern

  2. Toledo OHPlease accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. There is a void that cannot be replaced. The life insurance we buy is really preparation for death. But the life insurance Jehovah God offers is the destroying of death itself and all the things we can think of that causes it. He will do this through His Kingdom that His Son Jesus Christ is King of. We can gain comfort now through the Bible. And in the very near future we will hold our love ones again. We all will live happy healthy lives forever in exquisite delight and in an abundance of peace here on earth.

  3. Watertwown SDSending deepest sympathy, and remembering being neighbors on 2nd St, doing your Mom’s hair when I was a student at New York Hairstyling Academy, seeing her at Hornbacher’s….. those were the days!!
