With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Julie Ann Dawes, born on April 11, 1958, in Sarasota, Florida, and who departed from this world on March 3, 2025, in Fargo, North Dakota. Julie married Richard Dawes, and they shared a wonderful life together filled with love and joy. Julie, a loving mother and a vibrant soul, brought joy to everyone who crossed her path. She was not just a remarkable hairdresser; she was an artist, transforming not only hair but also the lives of many with her warm smile and gentle spirit.
Julie cherished her role as a mother to her daughter, Lynn Fortune, and her son, Joshua (Josh) Wilson. They were the light of her life, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to nurturing their dreams and ambitions. Julie had a unique gift for making those she loved feel special, always finding ways to uplift and encourage them. Julie continued this with the addition of her grandchildren; Bryant Fortune, Jessica Fortune, and Kylie Wilson. Julie’s family saw how her grandkids were her biggest treasure in life.
As we remember Julie, we celebrate her kindness, creativity, and unyielding love for her family and friends. Her spirit will undoubtedly continue to inspire everyone who knew her, and her “strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet” mindset lives on.
Her family wants everyone to remember her as the light of every room, happy, goofy, and the world’s best hugger.
In this time of sorrow, we invite all those who knew and loved Julie to come together, reflect on her vibrant life, and support one another, just as she would have wanted. Her legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in our hearts.
Julie was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard Dawes, her father, James Smith, and her mother, Frances Smith
