Keith Roy Nelson, 72, of Reile’s Acres, ND, passed peacefully on September 4, 2026, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Keith was born September 20, 1953, in Rutland, ND, to Earl and Janice (Johnson) Nelson. He was raised on a farm south of Cayuga, ND. He graduated from Sargent Central Public School in Forman, ND, in 1971.

Keith was a true jack of all trades. He worked in many different trades throughout his life. He was a farm hand, drove semis, worked as a welder, did apartment maintenance for various rental companies in the FM area, and, most recently, worked as a gate attendant for Fleet Farm before he retired. Even after retirement, he remained busy working on small engines and, most recently, wood-burning signs for family and friends.

Keith was a hard worker and family man. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, or just being outdoors. He had a smile on his face anytime he could spend time with his grandchildren or helping his children with projects. He was always a phone call away. He was a friend to many. He treated everyone with kindness. Truly enjoyed having conversations with anyone.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debi (Johnston) Nelson, Reile’s Acres, ND; children Brian Nelson, Casselton, ND, Paul (Darcy) Nelson, Wahpeton, ND, Jessica (Dave) Nelson, Corona, SD, Derek (Amy) Nelson, Glyndon, MN, and Aimee Nelson, Fargo; his step-children Heather (Sam) Stephens, Fargo, Rachel (Tasha) Webber, Peoria, AZ, Jeff (Lindsey) Guy, Fargo; grandchildren Mason, Jayah, Keisha (Ashton), Kianna, Adam, Colton, Marley, Ana, Steven (Hailee), Dravin, and Sawyer; great grandchildren Kolt, Brielle, Russel, and Everlee; sisters Michele (Al) Berndt, Cayuga, Kathy (Dave) Olson, Horace, ND; brother Donald (Tracy) Nelson, Milnor, ND; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson Andrew; granddaughters Kaitlyn and Kiera; and sister Lana.
