Kenneth Dale Harms, 68, of Prairie Rose, North Dakota, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and assisted by Hospice of the Red River Valley on 4/8/2023 after a 10-month long battle with Cancer.
Ken was born on July,17th 1954 in Mahnomen MN to Ervin and Ella Harms. He grew up in Mahnomen with 8 siblings. After graduating high school in Mahnomen, Ken moved to Fargo, where he started working for Harmon Glass / Glass Doctor, where he worked for 45+ years before he retired in 2020. In 1985 he met the love of his life Carol Cochran. They were married in 1989 at Atonement Lutheran in Fargo, ND. In 1991 they welcomed there one and only son Nathan. In 2015 Nathan married Katlyn Springer who was welcomed into our family. In 2016 Nathan & Katlyn had beautiful twin girls, Teagan and Tenley. Kens granddaughters meant the world to him.
Kens fondest memories were spent at their Lake Cabin on Long Lake near Park Rapids, MN. At the lake he enjoyed pontoon rides, fishing, bon fires and relaxing with family. Ken enjoyed any outdoor activity that kept him busy such as landscaping, mowing, planting flowers with Carol, and playing games with his granddaughters. Ken always loved construction work and he enjoyed helping his Son Nate with many house projects.
When the weather wasn’t so nice you could find Ken & Carol at the nearest casino or seeking out the nearest super club.
Ken is survived by his wife Carol of 34 years; son Nathan (Katlyn) of Briarwood, ND; Grand Daughters Teagan and Tenley; Brothers Dick, of Crystal River Florida; Jim of Fargo ND; sisters Mavis Nystad of Fargo ND and Marsha (Bill) Winter of Fargo ND; Sister-in-law, Shirley Harms of Bemidji MN and several very special nieces and nephews and their children. Ken is preceded in death by; parents Ervin and Ella Harms, brothers; Ronnie, and Duane; sisters; Beverly Rolland and Delayne Ekeberg.
Ken’s Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 13 at Boulger funeral home in Fargo ND. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
