Kenneth Eddie Hochhalter, 82, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Ken Hochhalter was born on August 7, 1943, in Long Prairie, MN, to Eddie and Beulah Hochhalter. Ken graduated from Hanson Mechanical Trade School, Auto, and Diesel in 1966.
Ken married Sharon Freed on September 30, 1960, in Horace Lutheran Church, where they raised their family in the community for many years. Ken worked for Industrial Molasses Trucking in Mapleton, ND, for many years. He finished his trucking career with Strata Corporation of West Fargo, ND.
Ken’s greatest passion in life was his family. Everything he did was for them. He enjoyed many hands-on projects, always wanting to stay busy. He loved sharing his hobbies with his wife, Sharon, such as spending winters in the Arizona sun. He enjoyed attending and watching Nascar for many years, along with family trips to the casinos.
He is survived by his children, Robyn (Bruce) Sorum of McHenry, ND; Shannon (Paul) Kist of Horace, ND; Loren Hochhalter of Phoenix, AZ; and Melissa (Tim) Rhode of Fargo, ND; grandchildren Christina (Chris) Mischke; Jacob (Kelsey) Sorum; Samantha Steichen; Jeffrey Steichen; Jerad (Casey) Steichen; Sasha Steichen; Dustin (Colleen) Hochhalter; Ashley Hochhalter; Logan (Lizzie) Rhode; Mackenzie Rhode; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Tim (Cheryl) Hochhalter, 3 sisters Angie (Jerry) Koschney; Barb Blumer; and Candy (Ron) Schmickle; and many nieces, nephews, and countless loved ones.
Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents Eddie and Beulah; Luverne and Myrtle Freed; his baby son; sisters Janice Skrove, Adeline Hochhalter, Susan Coulter; brother Ron Hochhalter; and granddaughter Sabrina Steichen.
