Larry Wilkinson

Larry Kendell Wilkinson, 71, Fargo, ND, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the VA hospital in Fargo.
Larry K. Wilkinson was born May 11, 1942 to Robert and Cecelia (Smith) Wilkinson at Williston, ND. He grew up in Trenton, North Dakota but graduated from Williston High School in 1960. After earning a B.S. degree in economics from North Dakota State University in 1964, he entered the United States Air Force pilot training program and received his wings 55 weeks later as a 2nd Lieutenant.
Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the USAF, Larry started his career with the State of North Dakota at the Fargo Job Service office. He subsequently took positions at the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University and retired in 2001 after 34 years of service.
He was a member of the ATO fraternity, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Kem Temple Shrine (Past Potentate Aide, Past President/Director Drum & Bugle Corps), and was a life member of the DAV, AMVETS, and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Cecelia Wilkinson, Williston, ND.
He is survived by his sister, Roberta “Bobbi” Wisdom, Kalispell, MT; a daughter, Meghann (Isaac) Poku, Fargo, ND; two sons, Thomas Wilkinson, New Town, ND; and Lonny Wilkinson, Grand Junction, CO; and grandchildren, Alex, Jack, Noah, Jacob, Joseph, Ole, Logan, Maleah, Rebekah, and Jacob; and a very special friend, Sonja Rue.

I learned of Larry’s passing today and am thinking of him and his incredibly kind and gentle ways. What a neat, neat spirit. My prayers and thoughts are with you as you remember Larry.

Williston Our deep and sincere sympathy to the family. Larry was such a true gentle man, kind and considerate. We knew him as he was born and raised in Trenton. His father was Arthur’s bus driver for years and the Trenton store was loved by all! May God’s love and comfort be with you.
Fargo Larry will be dearly missed by all those he touched. As a young professional entering into my first counseling position, Larry openly welcomed and mentored me which was so appreciated. He was a kind man with a genuine heart. I will miss his smile and look forward to seeing him again one day.

Larry will be missed. His kind words, his laugh, and his friendly demeanor will always be remembered most fondly. When I first arrived to town 15 years ago he welcomed me to the workplace. When we meet again in Heaven I hope he will be so kind as to welcome me there as well. I look forward to seeing you again Larry.
