Laura L. Bachmeier

laura bachmeier

Prayer Service:

Laura Leigh Bachmeier passed away Saturday March 30, 2024 surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born March 12, 1962 in Fargo, ND to Kenneth and Sharon (Lambert) Esperum. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High school in 1980. It was there that she met the love of her life, Michael (Bucky) Bachmeier. The two of them married on July 11, 1980. They welcomed their first daughter, Tina in 1980. They waited 9 years after that to add another daughter to the family, Tiffany was born in 1989. She loved her two daughters more than anything. They were all three very close.

Laura was a light to everyone she met. She was the kindest and most selfless person you would ever meet. She enjoyed doing things for others, especially her children and grandchildren. She always made people laugh and never complained about anything. She worked hard her whole life, first at The Learning Patch and the latest at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.

Laura had two great joys in her life: her grandchildren Reece and Ryland. She loved watching them. She taught them many things and even learned a thing or two from them. Like how to fish, something none of us ever thought she would do, but she did it for them. She loved asking them questions about any and everything! Mostly trying to get information out of them, which they happily gave to her. They made her laugh and she was so proud of them. One of her Favorite things to do with the boys was to take them to church at Olivet every Wednesday. She was meant to be a Grandma, a title she surpassed and then some. The love she had for these two boys was evident every day. She rarely missed a Football or Hockey game.

Laura and Bucky were active members of the Toppers Car Club. They went to many car shows and traveled with the club. One of the most memorable trips was to Deadwood, South Dakota. She will be missed by the many great friends they made being a part of the club.

Laura had one other love, and that was gambling with her best friend Lori (Kevin) Venaas. The two of them could always be seen at a machine, whether it was at a casino or a pull tab machine. They would talk about what they would do with their winnings, although we are not sure there was ever really any winning happening. They were just happy to be laughing and talking.

Laura is survived by her husband, Michael (Bucky); daughters, that she cherished, Tina Bachmeier, Tiffany (Dustin) Anderson; grandchildren, Reece, Ryland; siblings, Linda Esperum, Londa (Ryan Skwira) Olson, Jon (Jessica) Esperum; and many nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Sharon.

  25. I grew up across the street from the Esperum family. I was at 421. They were at 414. As kids, we and our siblings/friends would play tag, kickball, riding bikes down the street or to the Island Park swimming pool, etc. I remember Laura as always having a calm demeanor and doing cartwheels on her front lawn. We were always cordial, yet perhaps spoke only once or twice in high school (circa 1980) as life changed. I last spoke to her at our 30th South High reunion in 2010, just to say a brief “Hi.”
Laura will be missed as a good person.

  26. Laura was truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. She had this calm joyous presence that made people gravitate towards her. Though her loss brings great sadness, her memories bring great joy. Sending lots of love to her friends and family. Xoxo
