Laurel Norene Klose (Murchie) of Casselton, ND, formerly Eckelson, passed away on August 28, 2022, in her home with family present. Lolly was born on August 16, 1944, to Glen and Lucille (Baker) Murchie, in Sarles, ND. She graduated from high school in Bisbee, ND in 1962.

Devoted wife, loving mother of 5, Grandma to 8 and Great Grandma to 4 (one on the way).

Where Pa’s passion for wildlife began, Mom went along for the ride. Together they would watch deer out their front windows. Mom enjoyed watching her Silver Seabright Bantums dig at the dirt and strut their stuff! Her buff call duck Sass-a-frass would bring out the giggles.

Mom was seldom without a furry companion or two in tow. Her pups kept things interesting throughout the years. Mom also enjoyed having cockatiels, finch, parakeets, love birds and more in her home.

Mom enjoyed flowers, moss roses being at the top of her list. Cooking her homemade chicken noodle soup, cabbage rolls, caramel rolls, and her Chocolate Grandma Cake, were other things she enjoyed.

Cake decorating was something she did when she was younger, from wedding cakes to barbie dolls in the center, decorating with carefully crafted frosting flowers. As time went on, she would crochet and knit, her ascot scarves were a hit! Reading and working crossword puzzles were a pastime for her as well. Learning how to use the computer to play games, email and be on Facebook were things she’d say were her “sanity savers”.

We will miss Mom everyday, we know she is with the love of her life now.

Laurel is survived by her children, Daughters: Ella (Dave) Cruz, Casselton, ND; Melissa Roberts (Brian) Jamestown, ND; Michelle (Jason) Linz, Jamestown, ND; Sons: Kyle Nelson, WI ; and Mark (Heidi) Klose, Jamestown, ND. Her grand-children: Christopher Alber and Neil (Aiden) Wells; April Miller (Cory), Sasha (Nick) Capman and Zachary (Olivia) Miller; Jonathan Vee and Amber Linz; and Micayla Guthmiller. Her great-grandchildren: Colton and Jaxon; Holden and Harmony. Her brothers: Phil Murchie and Duke McCarthy. Her sisters: Ann Yost and Cheryl Beil. Special close family friend Ernie(Bev) Dawson, Jamestown, ND.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband William August “Bill” Klose – January 29, 2022. Her parents and grandparents. Brothers: Casey Westbrook and Kelly Murchie. Sister: Rayma Jenkins.

At Lolly’s request there will be no funeral service.
