Laurie Anne (Schmitcke) McLaughlin, 54 years old of Miami, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Sanford Palliative Care Unit. Laurie has been battling stage 4 lung cancer for a year. She was born in Leadville, Colorado on June 1, 1962 to Mary Ann and Arnold Schmitcke. She was the 5th child of 10 children. She loved life to the fullest. She touched a lot of lives. Laurie also managed a 14 story office building for 10 years and was loved by all. She also taught herself Spanish and could speak fluently. Laurie has 2 children; Christopher McLaughlin and Trisha Johnson, Caymen Islands, 2 granddaughters; Zariah and Zoe, mother; Mary Ann Schmitcke, Fargo, ND, siblings; Susan (Klay) Kubik, Manning, ND, Cheryl Major, Fargo, ND, Jeanie Moszer, Wheat Ridge, CO, Renee Sandoval, El Cajon, CA, Jackie (Jerome) Sharratt, West Fargo, ND, Dianne (Jason) Barnes, Arvada, CO, Joseph Schmitcke, Fargo, ND and Gwendolyn Schmitcke, Mandan, ND. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many close friends. Laurie’s family would like to thank her friends who were always there for Laurie when we couldn’t be. We would also like to thank everyone for the love and kindness you have shown Laurie. We hold a very special place in our hearts for you. She was preceded in death by her twin boys, father, Arnold and her brother, Duane “Dewy.” Prayer Service: 7:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo with visitation starting at 5:00 P.M. Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo.

  1. Mary Ann, and family; You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of transition I cannot imagine losing a child.

  2. To the Schmitcke/McLauglin family. We are keeping all of you in our prayers. Our hearts go out to Aunt Mary Ann, lauries children and her brothers and sisters and grandchildren. We will not make it to the services, but we are there in spirit.

Although I did not know your loved one personally, I hope knowing that they are in our loving heavenly Father’s memory will bring your family comfort during this difficult time. Very soon now we can look forward to God’s promise at a Revelation 21:4: “… Death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore, the former thing gave passed away.”
