LaVerne Montplaisir, 79, Fargo, ND died peacefully on March 9, 2015 at home surrounded by her family under the care of Hospice. LaVerne was born in Lake Andes, SD on June 21, 1935 an only child to Clarence and Mabel (Adams) Hayek. The family moved to Fargo in 1941 where LaVerne graduated from Shanley High School in 1953. LaVerne was united into marriage to James Montplaisir on June 29, 1957. They began there life together raising five children in West Fargo until Jim built the families dream home on the Hayek family farmstead where they moved in 1978. She began her working career at Mechants National Bank and then went on to work seasonally at Hemm’s Greenhouse where she was able showcase her green thumb. Years later LaVerne spent 14 years working for the Fargo, Nodak Store where she worked in customer service and made many good friends. LaVerne loved gardening, cooking, fishing, camping, bird watching, traveling in their motorhome, and most of all family & friends.  With that said, LaVerne was a very special woman who’s colorful hue will never be duplicated by Crayola. She is survived by her five children, Lori Fliflet, Jeanne Wichman, Perry (Annette) Montplaisir, Steven (Dawn) Montplaisir, and Brenda (Mike) Studebaker, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Preceding LaVerne in death are her parents Clarence and Mabel Hayek and her husband Jim.
