Leah Olstad
March 11, 1918 ~ May 25, 2017
Leah “Lily” Wood was born in London, England on March 11, 1918 to parents Fred and Julia Wood. Leah had 2 brothers, Jack and Henry Koski from Julia’s first marriage. Henry had 2 daughters, Pat and Julia and one son, Louis. Pat and Louis live in the UK and Julia lives in Florida.
Leah married Harold Harrington when she was 21 years old and was widowed at 22 when Harold was killed in WW2. Leah then met an American Air Force GI, Earl Weber, who she married in Hemmel Hempsted, England, after which she came to America as a “War Bride”. She came to New York on the Queen Mary, and then, the train to Jamestown, ND to be with her husband on a farm outside of Jamestown. They divorced after 15 years.
Leah’s 3rd marriage was to Earnest Olstad, a farmer from Ypsilanti, ND who also had a daughter Patricia from his previous marriage.
Leah worked in Jamestown at the JC Penny’s as a department manager and clothing model until she retired at 65 years old.
Leah enjoyed her retirement by going to Jamestown College Choir Christmas Concerts, and going out to eat with her friends.
Leah lived independently until she was 94 years old. After which she resided at Twin Valley Living Center until she passed away on May 25, 2017 at the age of 99.
Leah is survived by her son, William Weber and her 2 nieces, Patricia and Julia and her nephew, Louis.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services.
Leah was always a very sweet person and fun to visit with. She will be missed here at Twin Valley Living Center.
