May 14, 1918 ~ July 13, 2011
LEONA ODELLIS ANN GERMANSON-THOMPSON OLSON, of Walcott, North Dakota, is now at peace and in the hands of the Lord as of Tuesday, July 13, 2011. Leona was age 93. Born in Richland County, North Dakota, May 14, 1918, to the Germanson-Thompson Family, going to school at Owego, Ranson County, Leona became a lovely strong Norwegian Woman who loved God, her family and the land where she farmed for many years with her husband, Gordon L. Olson. Leona and Gordon married on September 18, 1937 and bought a farm in Walcott, N.D.
Leona's true passion and dedication was serving as a Member of the Congregation and WELCA Committee ("Ladies' Aide") of Helendale Lutheran Church, Leonard, N.D. She worked hard as farmer in Walcott; took on a gardening position at Shotwells in Fargo, where she loved flowers so - she became a proud proprietor, along with Gordon, of Lee's Greenhouse on their farm; became an expert quilt-maker; and, most of all, a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great/Great Great-Grandmother who made known and stated to her family just days ago: "I love you all!"
Leona will always be our "Norwegian Beauty."
Leona's surviving family is daughter, Lois (Rickie) Olson Masis Weinman; son-in-law, Robert Weinman; one granddaughter, Lisa Renee Olson Trumbly; Granddaughters, Jamie Renee Trumbly Hansen and Bailey Ann Trumbly; Great-Great Grandson, Joseph Joel Hansen, who is shared in the picture. Family that preceded Leona is her loving husband: Gordon L. Olson; grandson, Roger L. Olson; son-in-law, Bruce L. Olson; and son-in-law Hector L. Masis. May they now live in eternity together!
