Leonard L. Myers, 76, Grand Forks, ND passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.
Leonard was born July 1, 1946 in Moorhead, MN to Leonard and Florence (Dura) Myers. He graduated from West Fargo High School in 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served for 4 years as a Marine Corpsman in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Combat Action Medal and 2 Purple Hearts.
Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Fargo where he attended NDSU. He worked at Fargo Veterans Affairs Hospital as a pharmacy tech and later transferred to Walla Walla, WA where he continued to work with the VA. He married Bernadette Smith on June 23, 2020 and they made their home in Grand Forks, ND.
Prayer was very important to both Lenny and Bernadette and he could be found praying the Lord’s Prayer often. Lenny was loved by many and was a hero to Bernadette’s children.
‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.’
He is survived by his wife of Bernadette, Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Ladema (Grover) Gore, Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Grover III and Madelynn; brother, Keith (Rita) Myers, Grand Forks, ND; step-children, Marshall (Crystal) Anderson, Brenda (Tim) Hoverson, Connie (Brian) Whyte and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and son, Kristopher Myers.

We are saddened to hear of Leonard’s passing ! Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time ! Lenny was a classmate of mine at West Fargo High School and a teammate on a very successful football team in the fall of 1963. He was a dedicated, hard working, and tough lineman ! Lenny was easy to talk with and possessed a pleasing personality ! Thank You Leonard for your dedicated service to our country !
