Leonard "Red" Scheer

Leonard P. ?Red? Scheer, age 78, 1440 East Gateway Circle, #3, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 in MeritCare Hospital.
Leonard ?Red? Scheer was born December 1, 1925 in Creighton, Nebraska to Paul and Emma (Menke) Scheer. He graduated from Creighton High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served in Communications during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines After his discharge, he moved to Wisconsin where he worked on a dairy farm. He moved to Fargo, ND in 1957 where he worked for Goodrich Tire. In 1960 he began work as a locksmith for Emery Johnson Sporting Goods Store.
On June 1, 1962, Leonard and Deanna M. Dwyer were married in Fargo. He purchased Emery Johnson Lock Shop and in 1976 he started Emery Johnson Lock and Safe Repair. In 1980 he founded NPLA (Northern Prairie Locksmith Association) and served as president from 1980-1991. He worked part-time at American Legion as a bartender for over 12 years. He retired in 1990 when he sold his business
They spent their summers at their lake home on East Silent Lake. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and outdoorsman He was an active member of his church and served in a Diaconate position.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edwin and his sisters, Emma and Louise.
He is survived by his wife Deanna; his children, Randi (Terry) Graham, Broken Arrow Resort, MN, Gary (Melinda) Scheer, Billings, MT, Pam Anderson, Fargo, ND, Scott (Maria) Scheer, Fargo, ND and Steven (Heather) Scheer, Kent, WA; his sisters, Mable, Lila, and Eunice.

Sorry to hear about Reds passing. I worked for The Scherrsin 1978. They were very kind to me . Even when I was no longer employed by them I would go out on call with Red. I saw them a few times when I was on Leave from the navy. They helped me out a lot . I know it was a while ago since his passing but I hope the family is well and God blesses them.
