Leslie Everett Rotvold passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND.
He was born on April 6, 1945, in Halstad, MN, to Paul and Erma (Doeden) Rotvold. The fifth of six children, Leslie grew up on the family farm in rural Hillsboro. Leslie attended Hillsboro High School through his graduation in 1963. He joined the National Guard in June 1963. He then attended one year of college at Mayville State College.
Leslie worked various jobs in the Hillsboro area before becoming a supervisor at Aggregate Industries where he worked until his retirement.
On August 9, 1975, he married Bonita Bohnsack, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND. They made their home on the family farm. In 1986 they moved into Hillsboro where they continued to live until 2006. The couple then moved to Fargo where they lived until 2023 when they moved to Cando to be closer to their daughter and her family.
Leslie was active in his community and was a member of the American Legion and the Hillsboro Fire Department. Leslie also served his community as president of the Goose River Softball League and assessor for Hillsboro Township.
Leslie was an avid follower of all things sports related. He loved the New York Yankees, the Green Bay Packers, and NDSU. He and his wife traveled to Frisco and were proud Bison supporters.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Bonita; daughter, Lavonne Haugen; grandchildren, Melanie (Dan) Wahl and Joshua (Ashley) Haugen; great-grandchildren Amelia, Sophie and Brianna; siblings, Ronald Rotvold, Lyle (Marlene) Rotvold, Jan (Terry) Elkins, Darrell (Kay) Rotvold, and Roger (Kathy) Rotvold; and stepsiblings, Margie (Bill) Devlin, Darlene (Wayne) Garrett, and Roger (Joanne) Offerdahl.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Erma; stepmother, Lillian; stepsiblings, Lyle Offerdahl, David Offerdahl, Gaylor Offerdahl; sister-in-law Marlene Rotvold and son-in-law, Bryan Haugen.

I’m so sorry for your loss Bonnie. I’ve known LOTS of Bison fans in my lifetime; none of them had matching Bison tattoos! Les was a special guy who was always fun to talk to. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
