Lila Anderson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died peacefully at her home in West Fargo, North Dakota, on February 27, 2024.
Lila Louis Jacobson was born on July 1, 1933, in Devils Lake, ND, to Orville and Geraldine (McKenzie) Jacobson. A year later they moved to Sharon, ND. From an early age Lila loved music. She was a pianist, organist, and a soloist for many functions. Being from a small town, she had an opportunity to participate in a variety of things and was most proud of playing basketball, being a cheerleader, and involvement in North Dakota Girl’s State.
In 1951, she married Robert Amundson. During their 26 years of marriage, they had three children and lived in Valdosta, Georgia and Victorville, California, eventually settling in Fargo, ND.
Lila worked at Lutheran Hospital and Homes, American Food Plan, and in 1964, became a licensed realtor. In 1967, she opened Lila’s Ceramics & Gift Shoppe where she taught classes, was a distributor for ceramic products, and won many blue ribbons for her art pieces. Lila was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and very active in the choir as a soloist and choir director. She served on many committees and the Church council.
In 1978, she married Wayne “Andy” Anderson. Lila was an active member of the Fargo Moorhead Board of Realtors, North Dakota Real Estate Board, and President of the Women’s Council of Realtors. In the late 80’s, she was a closing agent at Encore Real Estate and was a proud recipient of the Omega Tau Rho Award.
In 1992, they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. While there, she worked as a mortgage loan processor. After retiring in 1997, they moved back to Fargo and became members of the First United Methodist Church. Lila was a lifetime member of the American Veterans Auxiliary, El Zagal Shrine Hospital Auxiliary, and Eastern Star. Lila enjoyed many seasons at their lake property on Lake Traverse, her music, reading, and spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren.
Lila was known for being adorned with copious amounts of jewelry, no matter the occasion. She had a soft spot in her heart for dogs. She and Andy had a motorhome for many years. They purchased Rainbow Island on Lake Traverse in MN. This special place held 11 lots, where they formed lasting connections with all the cabin owners and renters, creating many cherished memories.
Lila is survived by her husband of 45 years, Wayne; daughters, Marcia Aamodt of Dublin, Ohio; Monica (Steve) Jensen of Burnsville, MN; son, Monte (Elainia) Amundson of Lone Tree, IA; step-children, Tag (Camie) Anderson of Bismarck, ND; Eric (Karen) Anderson of Creston, IA; Leif Anderson of Bismarck, ND; Meghan (Steve) Fallgatter, of Driscoll, ND; Kathy (Bob) Gorski of Kirkland, WA; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and sisters-in law.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Dale Aamodt; special Uncle Denley McKenzie; infant grandson, Boden Wayne Anderson and great-grandson, Bennett Scott Amundson.
Blessed be the memory of Lila Anderson. Even though we are now parted, she remains in the center of our hearts. We love you and miss you every day…until we meet again.

On behalf of our family, thank you so much.
Thank you, Tawnya.
So sorry for your loss prayers for your family
Thank you, Frances.
We appreciate this, Ann.
Thank you, Bonnie.
I often sat in front of Lila and Wayne in church. When we sang hymns; and she hit those high notes, I felt like, I too, was able to sing that high. Lila had a beautiful voice.
During the first year after my husband died, I received occasional notes of encouragement and care from Lila. Those notes were so appreciated.
I see her now~ singing in the celestial choir.
Thank you, May. She now has her beautiful voice. We missed her keeping the U.S. Postal Service in business with the cards and notes. She loved making sure you knew she was thinking of you.
