Lillian Roman, 91, of Moorhead, MN died November 8, 2017 at home surrounded by her family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Lillian was born January 11, 1926 in Oak Park, Illinois and grew up in rural Barnesville, MN. Lillian’s parents were Otto Nergaard and Laura (Hanson) Nergaard. Lillian attended a rural country school and Moorhead High on 5th Street South. Later she received a GED. She started working for Western Union. Then during World War II, she transferred to a Seattle, Washington Western Union. She enjoyed meeting soldiers, dancing at the Trianon Ballroom. She returned to Fargo, ND and worked at the Cozy Café. She met Harry Roman and married him at Trinity Lutheran Church on May 17, 1947. She was a member of Trinity until she died. She enjoyed Altar Guild, her Circle group and was a member of the Cathedral Choir. Lillian was a supporting member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary and she truly cared about saving Social Security. She was a wonderful home maker, enjoying knitting and crocheting, cooking, reading and crossword puzzles, passing down her skills to her children. Lillian is survived by, her children, Robert (Laurel) Roman, Diane, Roman, Susan Roman, Mary Roman, James Roman, Laura (Roman) Loomis(Don Loomis). Grand children, Rachel (Roman) Wiger, Andrea (Gary) Murphy, Todd Roman Justin (Lori) Loomis, Eric Loomis, Iana Loomis, Angela (Loomis Smith, Sheila Loomis. Her Great Grand Children, Nicole Roman, Jamie Roman, Michael Wiger, Tosha Loomis. Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, Otto and Laura (Hanson) Nergaard, brothers Vernon and Harold Nergaard. There will be a Memorial Service on November 14, 2017 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Pastor Matt Peterson, Officiation and Andrew Steinberg, Organist. Burial will be at Moorhead Memorial Garden at a later date. A special thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Tom Holte, Hospice Chaplin for their care and support of Lillian and her family. Memorials are preferred to the Hospice of the Red River Valley.
