Lisa’s Celebration of Life will be livestreamed below at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026

Lisa Marie Duval, 44 of Fargo, ND passed away on Wednesday June 3, 2026. Lisa was born March 5, 1982 to Allen and Bonnie (Wertman) Person in Lisbon, ND.

She grew up on a farmstead near Lisbon with her two older brothers. The Person family moved into Lisbon when she was six and later graduated from Lisbon High School in 2000. She attended Valley City State University for several years and then moved to Fargo, ND, and started working full time at Rick’s Bar. That is where she met Ryan Duval and they would get married in 2008.

After getting a house, a wonderful dog and having her first son Owen, Lisa decided to attend Rasmussen University Nursing Department and got her LPN degree in 2014. She began working at Bethany Retirement Living and then had her second son, Rhys in 2015. Once she became an LPN her goal was to work in the Labor and Delivery Department and she got that opportunity at Essentia Health in Fargo where she started in 2016. She worked there until medical issues forced her to stop being a nurse.

In her free time Lisa enjoyed reading and crocheting. The thing that made her the happiest was spending time with her boys, whether it was cooking homemade meals together or chasing them around to all of their sporting events.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Ryan Duval, and their children Owen and Rhys of Fargo, ND, and the extended Duval family; sibling James (Bobbi) Person of Fargo; their sons, Dylan and Alex; niece, Brooklyn Person of Delton, MI; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Bonnie Person; sibling Jon (Courtney); grandparents; niece, Amanda Erickson.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I spent quite a bit of time with Lisa, Lindsay, Jess, Jon and Courtney in the early 2000s. We’d get together to listen and dance to local bands, especially our favorite- Davis?, playing (and usually losing!) trivia, and watching football games. Lisa was so much fun- smart, laid-back, beautiful and a great friend. As we “grew up” and made our families, we grew apart. We were both so proud of our families and thought it was awesome we were raising hockey players and each had a Rhys/Reece. I was looking forward to the future when we’d be able to reconnect, once we could afford spare time as our kids became independent. I regret that day won’t come but feel blessed for the time and friendship we shared.
I hope Lisa’s cool, confident personality and unmistakable laugh live on in her sons.
Lisa was a wonderful woman and will always have a place in my heart.
Prayers and healing vibes to you, Ryan, Owen and Rhys.
    Lisa’s friend, Jess Spieker Ferden

  2. Lisa was a beautiful person. I remember her as being incredibly intelligent and creative. I have so many childhood memories of being with her and her parents. We are so sorry for your loss.

  3. Sending my sincere condolences and sympathies to Lisa’s family, especially Owen and Rhys. Boys Mrs. Anderson wants you to know how much I am thinking of you both during this extremely difficult time in your lives. Sending you BOTH huge hugs of comfort and empathy. I am out of town until Saturday or would gladly come to hug you in person at your mom’s celebration of life! She will forever be in both your hearts like my mom is in mine as she passed away last June too. Please take are of each other and stay in touch!
    Mrs. Stacy Anderson

  4. Lisa had a big heart and a beautifully quirky sense of humor. I loved her creativity and always appreciated her gift for talking about anything. I am so grateful for our moments of reconnecting over the years and the memories we shared. She spoke often and deeply of those she loved. I hope the memories of her bring you peace and comfort.

    Love,
    Sharese

  5. Lisa was my first ever nurse mentor in my life at Bethany where everything started for me. Such an inspiration and great soul. All she talked about was her husband and her boys all the time. I loved being her CNA and we talked a lot. She reached out to me when I just gave birth in 2023 and we haven’t talked in so long. She got me to work with her at Rick’s bar for a couple of months but I soon found out bartending wasn’t my thing. But I loved being around her spirit. This news is crushing me right now. She is such a special person, special nurse, special angel. ❤️

  6. We are so sorry for your loss, Ryan. Our prayer and thoughts are with you and your family at this very difficult time. We hope Lisa’s memories will bring you peace. God Speed

  7. Oh Dear Lisa! Rest in peace! Blessings to all her family and friends 🙏

  8. Thankful I got to spend time getting to know Lisa through our mutual roles as “hockey moms”. She was kind and had a great welcoming smile. We will miss her supporting presence at the rinks. Praying for peace and comfort for your family. Lisa was a beautiful soul gone to soon🙏RIP friend

  9. I am so sad about this. I worked with Lisa at Essentia.
    Rest in Peace my friend…😓
