Lloyd C. Erickson , age 90 of Fargo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15th 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit of Meritcare. He was blessed by the presence of his family. He was born and raised on the family farm near Kindred ND, baptized and confirmed at Gol Lutheran Church and graduated from Kindred High School. As a teenager he became interested in amateur radio and pursued this interest into broadcasting. He began his career in Fergus Falls at KGDE Radio. It was there that he met Arlene Bredeson, whom he married on August 26, 1945. They began their life together in Jamestown, where Lloyd worked at KSJB Radio. Lloyd and his colleagues were pioneers in development of television in North Dakota, with the start up of KXJB TV. He was chief engineer for the “world’s tallest tower” north of Valley City. In 1965, when the station moved the site of the transmitter tower to Galesburg ND, the family moved to Fargo. He later became a vice president in charge of engineering at KXJB. He retired in 1985. He then worked part time for KCCM-Minnesota Public Radio in Moorhead. Lloyd and Arlene celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in August. Lloyd enjoyed many interests and activities over the years. In recent years he made many stained glass lamps and window hangings which are treasured by his family. He was active at First Lutheran Church, in the Hallinglag of America, Sons of Norway, and the Fargo Volkssmarch club. He also enjoyed camping, cross-country skiing, canoeing and bike riding. Lloyd is survived by his wife Arlene and their five children, eleven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Chuck (Betty Jo), Devils Lake. Nancy Mykleseth (Jerry) and Olivia, Moorhead He is also survived by two sisters; Judith Hofrenning (Ralph), Fargo, Dorcas Ode, Brandon, SD. He was preceded in death by his son Michael and infant daughter, parents Chris and Lillian Erickson, brothers; Glenn, Clemens, and Marcellus. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 pm with a prayer service at 7:30pm on Wednesday November 18, 2009 at the Boulger Funeral home in Fargo. Funeral services will be on Thursday November 19th, 2009 at 11:00 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
