Lloyd Thompson Mesa, Arizona Formerly of Hillsboro, North Dakota Lloyd passed away on Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 80. Lloyd was born on August 20, 1925, in Grandin, North Dakota, the son of Frank and Pearl (Weller) Thompson. He grew up in this area and received his education. After his schooling, Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Following his discharge, he returned to North Dakota. Lloyd was united in marriage to Avis Jahnke on June 18, 1949 at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. They made their home in Hillsboro where they raised their family and owned and operated Thompson Construction for many years. Lloyd was very active in his community where he served as a volunteer fireman, was a lifetime member of the American Legion where he served as past commander, a lifetime member of the VFW, Elks, and also served on the Hillsboro School Board. For the past 10 years, Lloyd and Avis spent winters in Mesa, Arizona, and summers at Pelican Lake. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Avis; his daughter, Patty (Jim) McConnell of South Bend, Indiana; and his son, Michael (Karen) Thompson of Hillsboro. Also surviving are his grandchildren ? Michael, Daniel, Brian (Amelia) and Katie McConnell, and Heather, Casey (Jennifer), and Jeremy Thompson. His parents, one brother, Lynn Thompson, and infant grandson, preceded him in death.
