Lloyd Clemence Thunberg, 95, died at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND, September 22, 2003. Lloyd Clemence Thunberg, the son of John Wallace and Caroline Thunberg, was born on August 21, 1908 in Nelson, Minnesota. He attended school in Nelson and Alexandria, Minnesota. Following his graduation from high school in 1925, he lived and worked in Osakis, Minnesota prior to moving to Fargo. In Fargo, he worked for the Ed Hoffman furniture department at the Herbst Department Store, and then joined the Fargo Post Office in 1937. Except for his service in the United States Army during World War II, he worked for the Post Office in Fargo until he retired in 1974. Lloyd was in the United States Army from January 1943 through November 1945. He served in Medical Unit 313, 88th Division, and participated in the Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines and Po Valley campaigns. He rejoined the Post Office following his separation from the Service in 1945. From 1957 until his retirement in 1974, he was superintendent of the Post Office Branch at NDSU. He is survived by his wife, Nelley (Akeson) Thunberg, whom he married on September 9, 1939, by his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Barbara Thunberg (Wesley Chapel, FL), and by two grandsons, Christopher (Durham, NC) and Erik (Wesley Chapel, FL). A memorial service will be at First Lutheran Church?s Chapel, Fargo, ND, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
