Lois Laber, from Enderlin, ND, died December 26, 2024.
Lois Eyvonne Richter was born in New Rockford, ND on September 9, 1925, daughter of Otto and Marie Richter. After attending school in New Rockford, she moved to Seattle, WA, where she lived for approximately eight years, working in the shipyards. Upon returning home, she met Norbert Laber and they were married on February 2, 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa. Her first eight years of marriage were spent on a farm near Bowman, ND; after that they had a Coast-to-Coast store in Enderlin. Lois had a daycare in her home for almost twenty years; and her kids meant the world to her. Lois’s faith was strong, as she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Enderlin and was treasurer for many years.
She is survived by her six children: Tim, Sarasota, FL; Ken (Deb), Fargo, ND; Rick, Enderlin, ND; Steve (Bonnie), Jamestown, ND; Brock (Sara), Omaha, NE; and, Kari (Brad) Huntington, Janesville, WI. She also had 5 grandchildren: Kasey (John) Urzendowski, Anthony (Brittney), Jessica (Jake) Chaput, Dominic and Medora. Her eight great-grandchildren are: Westyn, Maxwell, Samantha, Isley, Solomon, Shaemus, Benjamin and Isabella. Lois is also survived by one sister, Ruth Barkus, of Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norbert; brothers Ward Anderson, Kenneth Anderson and Charles Richter; sister Maralyn Salting; and, one of her beloved grandchildren, Jake Laber.
A special thank you goes out to the staff of Maryhill Manor for their loving care of our mom. Hospice has also been such an amazing support to our mother and kept her comfortable. Maryhill Manor team and the team at Hospice—you are all very much appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be sent to Maryhill Manor, 110 Hillcrest Drive, Enderlin, ND, 58027.
She was a loving influence on my life. One of my favorite memories is cooking. She made the best dumplings. I will miss her greatly.
