Lois Pronovost
January 1, 1970 ~ January 3, 2015
Lois Pronovost, 82, passed away January 3, 2015 in Fargo.
A summa cum laude graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead, Lois was a passionate creative teacher for the Central Cass School District and the Glyndon Felton School District. Prior to teaching she worked as the assistant to the Dean of the School of Agriculture at NDSU and prior to that as assistant to the director of the North Dakota Division of Independent Study. Using her teaching and organizing talent, she volunteered with several organizations including Boys Scouts, 4-H and Special Olympics.
Caring deeply for her family, Lois was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was their “rock.” Her positive “can do” attitude inspired her family and others. With many and varied hobbies, from carpentry to painting to wine making, she was not afraid to try something new. An avid animal lover, Lois loved having a dog, inspiring all her children and grandchildren to have a dog or two, but also instilling the importance of proper care of animals. Her tremendous work and involvement with horses earned her the distinguished Horsewoman of the Year award in 1981 by the Red River Horse Breeders Assn. Energetic, organized, efficient, determined, practical, caring and fun describe Lois. She is dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Lyle, Walt and Frank; and her sister Darlene. Lois is survived by her husband of 65 years Jerry Pronovost; children: Rhonda (Richard) Mix, Nowthen, MN; Bruce Pronovost, Fargo; Karen (Karl) Palloch, Colfax; grandchildren: Jenny (Scott) Unger, Noblesville, IN; Jerry (Sara) Mix, Elk River, MN; Cody Mix, Blaine, MN; Cole (Arika) Palloch, West Fargo; Katie Palloch, Fargo; 5 great grandchildren; sister Mary (Lenny) Krueger, Abercrombie; brothers Jerome (Deb) Cole, Fargo; Richard (Kathy) Cole, Walker, MN; David (Kitty) Cole, Bismarck, ND; Bryan Cole, Fargo; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
