Resided in:
Fargo, North Dakota
Lori Jean Billings, age 71, was born to Robert and Marilyn Olson on May 15, 1953, in Fargo, ND. She was called to her heavenly home on October 2nd, 2024.
Lori grew up with a passion for music and a love for family, friends, and Christ. Lori graduated from Fargo South High School with some of the greatest friends in the world. She went on to earn her undergraduate degree at North Dakota State University. She enjoyed her time as a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. With the encouragement of her church family at the First Presbyterian Church of Fargo, she attended Dubuque Theological Seminary. Lori earned her Masters of Arts and Religion degree. While attending seminary, she made more amazing lifelong friends. Seminary is also where Lori found the love of her life and partner in Christian ministries.
She was married to Daniel Robert Billings on September 4th, 1976, in Fargo, ND. They began their ministry together that year in Brookings, SD. As Lori and Dan started their ministry in Brookings, she gave birth to their son John. When they took on their first church in Smith Center, Kansas, Lori gave birth to their second child Rebekah (Becky). She loved her children and her grandchildren endlessly.
Lori was the musical, funny, supportive, and prayerful partner to Dan’s pastoral positions at Presbyterian churches for the next 47 years. Through her musical talents, she ministered to churches through piano and singing. Lori brought smiles to faces through her clown ministry and her best-known character of Twinkle Toes. Lori learned to knit and joined a ministry of knitting prayer shawls for people in various circumstances of suffering. She had a huge heart for the churches and communities they served. She gave so much to their congregations and communities through ministry, prayer, and leadership. She was always praying and supporting the hurt, the poor, and the forgotten. Lori walked hand and hand with Dan serving churches in Canby and Pipestone, MN and Gilby, Inkster, Forest River, and Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert. She is survived by her husband Rev. Daniel Billings of Fargo, ND, mother Marilyn Olson of Fargo, ND, daughter Becky Billings (Joel Hagen) of Minnetonka, MN, son John Billings (Roxanne Billings) of Mankato, MN, and two grandsons Ezekiel and Silas Billings of Mankato, MN.

Pastor Dan and family. I was so sorry to hear of Lori’s passing. She was always such a happy person and I always came home feeling better after having a visit with her. That smiling picture of Lori is how we will always remember her!
Lori is the one who got me started on cross stitching back in our college days. The first one I did said, “A true friend is a gift from God.” How prophetic! She was one of a kind. We will miss her.

My condolences to you. We were friends in high school and in potluck together. Lori was always so cheerful and had a twinkle in her eyes. She was in synchronized swimming with my sister and had a fun performance solo routine to “I am the Lion”. So many fond memories. Peace be with you.

I remember Lori and Dan when they served at our church in Canby. Becky used to play with my niece Cerrisa and they became friends. Dan was very supportive of my family with Lori right by his side.
