Lorraine ?Lonnie? Gerberding Fargo, North Dakota Lonnie passed away at her home under the care of her family and Hospice on Thursday, September 6, 2007 in Fargo at the age of 85. She is forever at home with the Savior she faithfully served. Lorraine Elizabeth Froehler was born on September 9, 1921 in Eden Valley, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Helena (Rieland) Froehler. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, MN in 1939 and from nurses training at St. Joseph?s Hospital in St. Cloud, MN in 1944. Lonnie served her country in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946. She was a member of the Army Nursing Corp assigned to the 139th Evac Hospital aiding liberated soldiers during their release from an Austrian concentration camp. Lonnie was united in marriage to Elmer Gerberding on May 22, 1946 in St. Cloud. They moved to Watertown, SD and she worked at St. Anne?s Hospital as a head nurse. They moved to Fargo in 1965 where she worked as a private duty nurse and for Blue Cross/ Blue Shield before retiring. Lonnie was very active at St. Anthony?s Church, school and Cursillo for many years. She possessed an unwavering faith and devotion to her church and her family. Her gentle presence, positive outlook to any challenge, unconditional love, and determination and strength were blessings to all who were fortunate to know her. Lonnie is survived by her children, Judy Hoffmann of Tyler, MN; Jeanne (Milton) Alm of Hendrum, MN; James (Nancy) of Kingston, TN; Jerry (Monica) of Glenwood, MN; Joan (Dale) Cook of Fargo; Jack (Patty) of Neche, ND; Janet Gerberding of Wahpeton, ND; and Janette Silleck of Portland, OR; her grandchildren, Nichole Hoffman, Michelle Seaman, Kristen (David) Pagel, Loftin (Lori) Gerberding, Collin Gerberding, Ryan Gerberding, Nathan Gerberding, Becky Gerberding, Matthew Cook, Andrew Cook, Jessica Gerberding, Jennifer Gerberding, Julie Gerberding, Samie Silleck; and 7 great grandchildren. Lonnie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Irene Rushing; and her brother, Walter Froehler. Memorials preferred to Hospice or St. Anthony of Padua Church. Funeral Mass: 1 PM Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo Gathering of Friends: 5-7 PM Sunday at Boulger Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Monday Prayer Service: 7 PM Sunday at Boulger Funeral Home Burial: Holy Cross North Cemetery in Fargo Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo.
