Goodbye to our beautiful Mother, Grand, Great-Grandma, Sister, Aunt, In-Law, and Friend. She passed peacefully on September 22, 2012 at her home at Bethany on 42nd surrounded by her nine children and family being sung her favorite song.

Loucille Ann “Luann” Gebeke was born to Louis and Cecilia Gebeke of Amenia, ND. She grew up in Casselton, ND and moved to South Fargo to finish her high school years. She married Leslie Lorenz Hirchert of Ulen, MN in November of 1948. They lived in Garrison, ND for their first years and moved to North Fargo where they made their home for 52 years. Les and Lou were married 54 beautiful years before Les’ passing in 2002. Shortly thereafter, Luann moved to Bethany Kinder House Senior Community, then to Bethany on University, and spent her last days at Bethany on 42nd.

She was a homemaker and in food service at St. Mary’s and NDSU before starting childcare in her home. She later retired from the Fargo Senior Depot. She was a member of St Mary’s Cathedral Church and choir as well as a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters, Silver Follies, and Red Hats. She was awarded the “Salute to Mom’s” in 1998 nominated by her church. She was always happiest singing whether around the campfire with family and friends or while doing household chores.

Lou touched the lives of many which was evident in the last week of vigil before her passing. We would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley and Bethany Retirement Living for their compassion, respect, and support for our Mother and our large family.

Grandma Lou was guided to her lord by her nine children: Cathy Hirchert (Omaha); James (Linda) Hirchert & Paul (Kathy) Hirchert (both of West Fargo); Linda (William) Killoran, Randy (Wanda) Hirchert, Grace (Lee) Folstrom, Tony (Paula) Hirchert, Barbara (Roger) Olson, and Larry (Theresia) Hirchert (all of Fargo); 27 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; and always ready to welcome more; siblings David (Judy) Gebeke (Alberquerie, NM), Shirley (Ronnie) Wambach (Detroit Lakes), Anita (Loren) Bjornstad and Jean Lind (both of Fargo); Sister in Laws, Ione Gebeke (Fargo) and Grace Thorton (Twin Valley) as well as many nieces and nephews she held so dear.

Lou met in heaven, her parents, husband (“ her Lover”), two brothers, and a sister.
