Louis Novotny, 82, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November, 14th 2010 at the Palliative Care Unit, Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Louis was born May 15, 1928 to Frank and Agnes (Kubas) Novotny. He was raised in Dickinson, N.D. He served in the United States Army for 18 months. Upon returning home, he met and fell in love with Martha Mary Kostelecky, they were united in Marriage on September 29th, 1947. From that union, they had three sons, Raymond, James and Jeffrey. In 1964 the family moved to Fargo, ND. Louis was employed by Dakota Flooring for 33 years, and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #1176.

Louis enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the lake. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, dancing, listening to polka music, and tinkering in his workshop. He had an infectious smile that we will never forget. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with his wife Martha. Martha passed away October 7th, 1997.

Louis is survived by his sons; Raymond (Karen), Dickinson, ND, James (Fiancé Barb Doty), Tennessee, and Jeff (Karla) Fargo, ND, one brother; Chuck (Marge) Bismarck, ND, sister, Dixie (Gene), Velva, ND, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, special friend, Arlene Nelson, and many family members in Sanborn, ND.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes, brother, Andy Novotny, sister, Margrete Huschka, wife, Martha, and infant grandson, Benjamin Novotny.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sanford Health, 2nd Floor South, and to the gentle, wonderful nurses in the Palliative Care Unit. Thank you all for taking such good care of him and his family, words cannot express our gratitude. Peace be with you all.
