LuAnn Ellen Olsen

LuAnn Ellen Olsen, 69, of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Marshalltown, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 28th. 2026 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

LuAnn was born on October 20th. 1957 in Iowa City, IA to Lucien Edward (Skeeter) and Gwendolyn Thompson.

While working at Hy-Vee she met and fell in love with the Pepsi delivery guy. LuAnn and Jim were married on November 24th, 1984, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

She loved to spend time with family, women’s basketball, and anything Iowa Hawkeyes. She also loved all her coworkers who became like family from various jobs over the years. Her grandchildren were everything to her and she spent a lot of time with them. She was very proud of all of them.

LuAnn is survived by her only son, Chris (Alycia) of Detroit Lakes, MN, grandchildren; Danika, Carver, and Maddux, her brother; Kevin (Brenda) Thompson of Toledo, IA, and many friends and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Jim, and her parents; Lucien and Gwendolyn.
