Lucille Carter

Lucille M.O.Carter formerly of Fargo died at the age of 94 on December 15,2011 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital and Manor, Granite Falls, MN.

She was born to Louis and Anna Merkens  at their farm near Ada MN on April 17, 1917.  She attended Pleasant View country school not far from the farm.  She continued her education and graduated from Ada  High School  and attended Moorhead State University where she received her teaching certificate.  She taught rural country schools for 5 years.  Later, she returned to teaching for several years in area towns.  She and her husband farmed N.W. of Ada  MN. until 1975 when they moved to Fargo, N.D. due to her husband's poor health.

Surviving are two sons: Dr. Kenneth (Lori) Carter and Dr. Darrell (Hazel) Carter of Granite Falls, MN.  Five grandchildren: Robert (Lisa) Carter, Richard (Susan) Carter, Theodore (Kimberly) Carter, Dawn (Steve) Leigh and Sheila (Jeff) Van Overbeke and 12 great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, her parents, a brother and a great-grandson.

She was dearly loved by her family and many friends.  She treasured her faith, family and friends greatly.
