Lucille Guenther
January 2, 1920 ~ February 9, 2017
Lucille passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo.
Ethel Lucille Engen was born on the family farm near Kindred, ND, on January 2, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Peterson) Engen. She grew up in this area and received her education in Kindred. She worked for many years at various restaurants in the area as a waitress. Lucille was a very devoted daughter who cared for her mother in her later years of life. She was a long time member of Kindred Lutheran Church and also a member of the Legion Auxiliary.
Area survivors include her long time good friend, Bob Ballestad of West Fargo; and niece and nephew, Rob and Lauri Engen of West Fargo.
Lucille had a wonderful life and enjoyed all of the visits from friends and family throughout the years. She always had a smile on her face and a special twinkle in her eyes. You never left a visit without a warm “thank you” from Lucille. Living to the age of 97, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings – Orrin Engen, Leif Engen, Adolph Engen and Betty Vicory; and many of her friends from over the years.
Memorials are preferred to the Kindred Lutheran Church.

BURIAL: Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo
I helped take care of Lucille for two and a half years. I just recently started back at Bethany and was informed she had passed away. I felt compelled to look up her obituary and let everyone know how much she will be missed. I will never forget this woman’s special smile, and the way she was always so grateful for anything you did for her. I hope Lucille knows she’s still thought about, and missed by the care givers at Bethany Retirement Living.
