Lyda Ellen (Steiger) Longworth, 72, Fargo, ND passed away from end stage COPD, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Bethany on University in Fargo. There is no memorial service planned at this time.

Lyda generously gifted her body to the UND School of medicine in Grand Forks, ND.

Lyda E. Longworth was born April 16, 1951, at Altona, Manitoba Canada to Ed and Tillie (Klein) Steiger. She grew up and attended school in Cavalier, ND. She was a business owner in the community with a store called “Anybody’s Place.” She sold posters, incense, vinyl records and other fun things from the 70’s era. She moved to St Paul, MN in 1976 and called the Twin Cities home for many years. She worked for 3M, her last job with them being an event coordinator at the 3M Tartan Park Clubhouse. One of Lyda’s happiest moments was becoming a homeowner at 38.

Things Lyda enjoyed were her cats, reading, online shopping, thrifting, playing on her computer, gardening, the company of friends & family, and being anywhere near water.

Lyda is survived by her children: Lynnette Heller, West Fargo, ND, and Steven (Germaine) Heller, Cavalier, ND; grandchildren: Mason & Madison Heller, Cavalier, ND; brother, Ray (Connie) Steiger, Cavalier, ND and sister, Jan (John) Best, Mesa, AZ. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Fritz Herring, and sister, Joan Diane Steiger.

  6. Lyda’s Family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom, Grandma and Sister. I never knew Lyda but I know her children-Nettie & Steve and her brother Ray & Connie. May they all share memories and stories that will bring you comfort in the time of great sadness. I am sure she was so proud of her children and grandchildren-they are all amazing people.
