Guestbook

    • What a beautiful tribute to Lyles memory. Our deepest sympathies to you all as you celebrate Lyles life. Indeed he was a great husband son brother uncle and friend. Cherish your beautiful memories. Love to you all Marlys and David Sunderland

  1. Lyle was a teacher of mine in Ada,Mn.
He taught me the love of learning about the stock market.
He loved this so much, and it rubbed off.
    Thanks Lyle.

  2. So many memories of Lyle…I remember his first year of teaching in Ada, and remember how he cared about his students. Lyle was always immaculately dressed and took pride in his Norwegian sweaters and Norwegian folk clothing. Lyle was very genuine…what you saw is what you got. I remember his beautiful organ artistry, and the way he made the instrument sing. It’s hard to believe that someone I have known for 55+ years is gone. All my best to you, Kay.

  3. Oh my gosh, Kay – I am so sorry to hear about this. I absolutely loved having both you and Lyle as part of my life, while growing up in High School in Ada. Lyle really helped me through some very difficult times, as I was growing up. Being a female in general is tough and Lyle helped me in dealing with the every day troubles of being a female teenager. Reading his obituary, brought back so many memories of just how much I really miss him and how I should have reached out to him, just to see how he was doing. Sometimes, we think after the fact and it’s just way too late. I am so sorry, I should have been there. Please know I am thinking about you and I have some wonderful memories about both of you. My heart goes out to you Kay – Love you!

  4. Thank you for all the pleasant memories from your visits to us in Norway over many years. Our thoughts go out to Kay, Vicky, Kristen and families.

Ruth Jorunn (second cousin) and Gunnar, Hans Petter and family

  5. I worked with Lyle in Ada. Lyle was a wonderful mentor and cared very much for the students. He will always have a fond place in my heart. Sympathies to Kay and family!

  6. Kay and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Lyle was an extraordinary human being and a wonderful presence at Ada High School. He always figures prominently in my memories of my school days. I remember mostly how we could get him to laugh and joke around with us. He was a great man and will be missed by many.

  7. My sympathies to a great teacher and leader of education. I have so many great memories of Lyle and Kay in our schools and waiting on them at Irene’s snack bar. He truly loved every student and wanted the best education for them. Blessed be his memory.

  8. Sorry to hear of lyles passing. His parents rented from us for many years in portland. He was a devoted and caring son…always looking after his parents. Walter and juneth were so proud of their children and grandchild. Kindness runs deep in their family.

  9. The schoolyear of 87/88 when you and Kay opened your house for me and included me in your family will forever stand out as a year filled with good memories. I attended Ada High School that year and saw the impact you had in so many young people’s lives. You made a difference!
Our family ties grew stronger over the years and your annual trips to Norway to visit us and celebrate 17. mai with us was somehing we always looked forward to. I’ll always cherish all the good conversations we had during those visits.
You were a master at making traditional Norwegian cakes, and it was you who taught me how to make lefse.
You will be deeply missed. Our thoughts go out to Kay, Vicky, Kristen and families.

Marianne, Kjell Arne, Kristian and Andreas

  10. I have great memories of Lyle at Ada High School. He was also a wonderful musician at our church! He played for our wedding.
    Blessed be his memory…..
    Trisa (Sipe) and Al Olson
