Lyle Miller, 85, of Fargo, died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Elim Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. Lyle Miller was born near Tower City, N.D. on May 3rd, 1924 to Beulah (Buswell) Miller and Albert Miller. He spent his younger years attending rural school until moving to Fargo, graduating from Central High School in 1942. He farmed with his father in rural Fargo and later at Christine, N.D. He married Marlys Wawers in Fairmount, N.D. in 1952. They moved to Kindred, N.D. in 1964. He was employed for a short time by Idso Sales and spent 26 years as a safety inspector for the North Dakota Workers Compensation Bureau. The couple moved to Fargo in 1991. Lyle enjoyed many years of camping on Lake Ida. Golfing, bowling, and playing cards were his favorite pastimes. His grandchildren and great grandchildren had a special place in his heart. He is survived by his wife Marlys; two sons Tim (Jane) Rochert, MN, Dan (Nancy) Wenatchee, WA; two daughters Susan (Dan) Duffey Lakeville, MN, Lisa (Doug) Ruter Willmar, MN; 11 grandchildren Miranda (Kevin)Oliver, Meagan (Doug) Loken, Nic (Tabitha) Miller, Luke Miller, Krystal, Justin, and Cameron Miller, Deacon and Danielle Duffey, Damon and Leah Ruter; and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his special in-laws, or as he referred to them, “his outlaws”, Eddie Wawers, Leander and Edith Wawers, Ione O’hearn, Ben and Marilyn Wawers, Eva and Franklin Miller, Paul and Joan Wawers, and Diane and Al Clementich, and Bette Miller Brewer. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Audrey; two brothers Dwain and Daniel. We would like to express our special thanks to the Hospice of the Red River Valley for taking such wonderful care of Lyle for the past year. Also, thank you to Elim Care Center for their fine care this past month. Memorial Service: Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1420 16th St. E., West Fargo, ND 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2009. Memorial Visitation: Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1420 16th St. E., West Fargo, ND 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2009. Prayer Service: Sunday at 4:00 pm at the church.
