Marcella Siebels Marcella Siebels, 84, died on Friday, December 26, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Mrs. Siebels was born Mary Marcella Long on a farm near Berlin, ND to Charles Long and Clara Freese, the oldest of seven children, and was called Marcella all her life. She went to school in Berlin for eleven years and St. John?s Academy, Jamestown, ND to finish high school. She went on to Valley City State Teacher?s College and earned her teaching certificate. In the fall of 1939, she started teaching in a country school north of Dickey and west of Marion. She also taught at Sheyenne ND, Ellendale, ND and Alberton, MT. In the spring of 1950, she stopped teaching and moved to Fargo with her father and step-mother. While working in the bookkeeping department at St. John?s Hospital she met Alord Siebels and they were married September 27, 1952 and had two children. Marcella was always a caring person which was evident through her teaching career, and she and Al took care of over 50 foster children, three of which became a permanent part of the family. In 1974 she went back to school and received her Nurses Aide training and worked at Villa Maria Nursing Home until she retired in 1984. She was actively involved in the church, parish circle, Catholic Daughters, and the Cursillo, as well as being a Eucharistic Minister. Her Catholic faith was strong, and she gained strength from it to help her through the good times and the bad. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; her father, Charles; her mother, Clara; her stepmother, Theresa; her daughter Deb; and three brothers, Richard, Francis, and Clem. She is survived by her son, Charles (Jennifer) Siebels, Houston, TX; daughters, Mary Ann Siebels and Margaret (Gary) Zeren, Fargo; four grandchildren, Neal and Lyle Zeren, and Stephanie and James Siebels; one sister, Sr. Victorine Long, St. Paul, MN; and two brothers, Leonard (Clara) Long, Nome, ND and John (Christina) Long, Berlin, ND; and her sister-in-law, Imelda Long, Mandan, ND. Visitation: 5:30-7:30 p.m. - Sunday, December 28, 2003 in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, and one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Monday.
