Margaret Mary Vettel Hillsboro, North Dakota Margaret passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo at the age of 86. Margaret Mary Muller was born on January 5, 1921, the daughter of August and Elizabeth (Noterman) Muller, near Hillsboro, in Bloomfield Township. She grew up in this area, attended school in Hillsboro and also one year at Boarding School in Willow City, ND. Margaret Mary graduated from Hillsboro High School and later attended Mayville State Teachers College. She taught at rural schools in Elm River and Blanchard Townships from 1943 until 1946. Margaret Mary Muller was united in marriage to Walter N. Vettel on June 1, 1948 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro. They made their home in Cummings, ND where they raised their family. Margaret Mary also taught at the Hillsboro Migrant School from 1967 until 1987, served as clerk of Ervin School Board from 1962 until 1968, was a substitute Postmaster in Cummings from 1976 until 1989, and was the school cook in Cummings for 5 years. Walter passed away on July 3, 1995. Margaret Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She helped many area families with childcare for their little ones and was grandma to many. She spent countless hours nurturing her garden plants which she tenderly cared for. Margaret Mary will be missed by all of her family, many neighbors and friends. Margaret Mary is survived by children, Elizabeth (Francis) Kritzberger of Hillsboro; Bill (Ann) Vettel of Flushing, MI; Bob (Ginny) Vettel of Warner-Robins, GA; Barbara (Terry) West of Hettinger, ND; Beverly (Chris) Dennis of Omaha, NE; and Brad (Twila) Vettel of Arvilla, ND; 23 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Ralph (Veronica) Mueller of Deerfield Beach, FL; her sister in law, Barbara Mueller of Cummings; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents; her husband, Walter; her grandson, Stephen; and her brothers, Earl Mueller and Fr. Maurice Mueller, preceded Margaret Mary in death.
