Marian H. Heglie, 95, formerly of Walcott, ND died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo, ND.

Marian was born on May 14, 1917, to Andrew and Lizzie (Magenton) Bakko in Walcott, ND.  She grew up in the Walcott area, attended school, and graduated from Walcott High School.  She received her secretarial diploma from Interstate Business College in Fargo in 1935.  She worked at A.T. Russell Insurance and the Census Bureau in Fargo.

On June 21, 1942, Marian was united in marriage to Aaron H. Heglie at the Walcott Lutheran Church.  They farmed in the Walcott area for over 50 years until Aaron’s death in May 1997.  Marian moved to Fargo in 1998 and has resided at Bethany on 42nd since 2010.

Marian was a member of Walcott Lutheran Church.  She was an active member of the Walcott Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and she was a member of the quilting group for many years.  She was also a 4-H leader.  Marian loved working on crossword puzzles and keeping up to date on current events.  We could always count on her to remember significant dates and events.  She had an incredible memory, and she kept a detailed diary for many years.

Marian is survived by her loving family:  her children, Linda (James) Sauer, Wells, MN; Marilyn (Emil) Rutten, St. Michael, MN; Ron (Sandy) Heglie, Walcott, ND; her five grandchildren:  Steve (Shelly) Sauer, Shakopee, MN; Shannon (Nick) Arnold, Prior Lake, MN; Lisa (Jamin) McKenzie, White Bear Lake, MN; Tami (Allen) Coffey, Albertville, MN; Erin (John) Klimek, Fargo, ND;  her eight great-grandchildren:  Hailey and Ethan Sauer, Samantha Arnold, Isabelle and Jadon McKenzie, Ashley Coffey, Cole and Jocelyn Klimek.  She is also survived by her sister, Pearl Frosaker, Fargo, ND; and sister-in-law, Ethel Henderson, St. Anthony, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters:  Gladys Larson, Beatrice Sorbel, and Lyla Erickson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bethany on 42nd for the wonderful care they gave Marian.

    Brother Jim sent me the Obiturary of your Mom today. 95 yrs, my goodness. I do remember her being such a nice lady. So soft spoken, always beautiful. One always kind of feels really alone, once both parents are gone. I often think, “I should call Mom and tell her…..” We were all a close family growing up in Walcott. Church meant a lot to all of us. We all take comfort in knowing we will see them all some day.
