Marianne "Percette" Grube

Marianne (Percette) Grube was born December 2nd, 1938 to Francis J. Grube and Kathryn Kneeshaw Grube.

Percette attended Pembina Public School K-12. She enjoyed being involved in band where she played the snare drum and being in choir. Percette was a girl scout and member of 4H where her mother Kathryn was one of the leaders. She was senior class president and prom queen in 1956. Percette was chosen by the Pembina Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State at UND. She also worked in the school office as an assistant during her spare time as well as the gift shop in Pembina and Meagher’s Café.

After graduating from Pembina High School in 1956, Percette graduated from Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, North Dakota accepting her first position in accounting in Rapid City, South Dakota. Percette then worked at UND in the Steno Bureau, in Twamley Hall. Moving to California, she accepted a secretary position at the Lutheran Boys Home. Moving on to Hemet, California Unified School system as a secretary being awarded “Secretary of the Year”.

After returning to North Dakota in 1976, Percette worked with Motor Coach Industries as Secretary of the freight department along with Citizens State Bank of Pembina County.

In 1987, she was employed at the He-Mart and Co. where she loved getting involved in the community, to include the Cavalier Retail Committee, Chamber of Commerce, member of the Cavalier Presbyterian Church and Vice President, American Legion Auxiliary Cavalier.

Percette and her mother Kathryn enjoyed time together in Fargo beginning in 2000 for many years. They enjoyed each other very much. Percette loved working for Straus Clothing in Fargo for many years. She also managed the Men’s Suit department at JcPenny and then retired while at Fusion Boutique located in Scheels, Fargo.

Percette cherished spending her time with and supporting her close family. She will also always be remembered as a beloved friend to many.

Percette is survived by her children: daughter, Janelle (Chad) Holth; sons, Larry Stranger, Jay Stranger; grandchildren, Morgan, Willow, Garrett, Trevor and Serena; brother, Lawrence (Judy) Grube, Jeni Grube (Conley, Lauren and Lacey)

Percette was preceded in death by her father, Frank Grube; mother, Kathryn Grube; and sister, Kaye Wengert.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Red River Valley.

  1. I am so sorry we will not be able to attend the funeral to celebrate Percette’s life. She was truly a part of the Straus Family, always with a wonderful spirit. We will miss her.

We smiled at the snare drum playing, Queen and the tributes to her life in the public. I ( Nancy) worked for her at the HeMart and thought the world of her. Wherever she was working in the public, she was a real gem. The twinkle in her eye, her smile and ability to help everyone in her special way. Her family meant the most to her – and our hearts go out to you as you will miss her. Our sympathies to each of you – you are in our thoughts and prayers.

  8. We are sorry to hear of the passing of Percette. Our condolences go out to her family. We were very fortunate to have had her as part of our staff when she was employed by Citizens State Bank. She was very efficient in her job and worked so well with the rest of our staff. Her friendly attitude made it easy for her to deal with all our bank customers. We know she will be greatly missed by her family.

  9. Dear Janelle and family, so sorry to read of Percetts passing. Mom worked for her at HeMart and they had the best time together. They kept in touch when Percette moved to Fargo and she visited Mom several times at Edgewood Vista and in the nursing home. She was a classy lady and will be missed
