The Funeral Service for Marie McCannell will be held 11 AM Monday, March 10, 2003, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro, North Dakota. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM followed by a Rosary in Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Monday. Burial will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fargo. Marie died on Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 94. Marie Golliet was born on September 18, 1908, near Gardner, North Dakota, the daughter of William and Mary (Marasic) Golliet. She grew up on the family farm, attended school in Gardner and at Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo, graduating from Gardner High School. Marie then attended Dakota Business College in Fargo where she met Clair Georgeson. Marie was united in marriage to Clair Georgeson on October 27, 1930, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Hillsboro. Together they made their home in Fargo where they owned and operated Model Grocery in south Fargo. Marie also worked as a Recorder for the Royal Neighbors of America Insurance Company in Fargo for over 20 years. Clair passed away in 1960. Marie was united in marriage to Robert McCannell on December 26, 1969, in Fargo. Together they made their home in Jamestown, North Dakota, before moving to Warren, Minnesota, in 1971. They owned and operated the Lumberyard in Warren for many years before retirement. Bob died in 1998. Marie moved to Hillsboro in 1999. Marie was very active in the Eagles Club for over 50 years and was also an active member of the Catholic Church. Marie is survived by her children, Sylvia (Ken) Kensinger of McLeod, North Dakota; Carol (Bill) Burtness of Fargo; Richard (Vi) Georgeson of Hillsboro; Mary (Art) Parmellee of Niwot, Colorado; Jean Phillips of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and George (Michelle) Georgeson of Bismarck, North Dakota; and her daughter in law, DonnaGrattelo of Fargo. She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren; her 47 great grandchildren; her one great-great grandson; her brother, Joe Golliet of Chariton, Iowa; and her special "sisters" at the Kiwanis Housing in Hillsboro. Marie was preceded in death by her son, William; her infant daughter, Mary Jane; 2 grandchildren; her brothers, Herb and Eli; and her sisters, Syliva and Esther. (Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro)
