Marie left this earthly life, surrounded by her family in her home at Pioneer House, at the age of 95.
Marie was born to Joseph and Catherine (Hermes) Friederichs on June 8, 1918, in Wahpeton, ND, the youngest of two children. Marie graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1936, and then the State School of Science in 1938. After her graduation, Marie moved to Washington, DC obtaining a position with the Navy Department from 1940 until 1944; followed by the Brazilian Military Commission. Marie met her husband, Carl Robbins while he worked at the Anacostia Naval Yard in Washington. They married in 1944 at the Naval Chapel. The couple resided in Bloomsburg, PA, for a short time before moving to Fargo in 1949. While in Fargo, Marie worked at North Dakota State University, and the Veterans Administration in the Adjudication Division. Marie had many interests . She enjoyed her rose and vegetable gardens, playing bridge, entertaining, following local sports teams – especially the NDSU Bison, baking, and was very active at Holy Spirit Church. Marie was an excellent correspondent staying in touch with many friends and relatives throughout her life. Marie and Carl raised two daughters, Catherine and Patricia Jo.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; and her brother, Gilbert. She is survived by two daughters; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and extended family members.
