Marie Joann Thompson, 83 of Fargo, ND died Monday, August 12, 2019 at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND. Marie was born in Flaxville, MT on December 15, 1935 to Dona and Rose (Sauvageau) Fugere. At age 3 following her mother’s death, Marie and her brother Joseph were sent to stay with family members in Wild Rice, ND until they were of school age and returned back to Montana. At age 10, they moved to Fargo, ND and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School until graduating. Marie worked at St. Luke’s Hospital until she married LeRoy Thompson on November 24, 1956 and lived on a farm near Wyndmere. She worked at Dalhgrens in Lisbon, ND and retired from 3M in Wahpeton. ND. Marie moved to Fargo in 2005 to be closer to friends and family. Later she lived at Edgewood Vista. She always enjoyed helping others, taking care of her mother-in-law Hilda, grandchildren and great grandchildren special friend Al Klaman, and brother-in-law Armour Thompson. She had many hobbies; canning, sewing, painting, doing all kinds of crafts. She spent every day she could at the senior center in Fargo playing cards, dominos, and puzzles. But her number one favorite way to spend time was caring for others. Marie is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Thompson; mother Rose (Sauvageau) Fugere; father Dona Fugere; infant sister Alida; sister Joan Tessier; brother Fern Fugere; son-in-law Rick Brosowske and great grandson Jude Roy Brosowske. Marie is survived by sister Ida Tessier, Ontario, CA; brother Joseph (Barb) Fugere, Fargo, ND; daughter Lynnette (Gordy) Meyer, Fergus Falls, MN; sons Randy, Leslie, and Rodney (Jackie) Thompson all of Wyndmere, ND; grandchildren Heather (Chris) Hames, Moorhead, MN, Justin (Cristy) Brosowske, Moorhead, MN, Nolan Thompson, Wyndmere, ND; great grandchildren Colin, Levi and Bryson Hames, Dylan and Madison Selzler, Armour and Lindy Brosowske.

  2. We are so sorry for your loss. Marie was such a kind, gentle, loving person. We so enjoyed getting to know her while she and Al were friends. She was such a wonderful friend to Al, we were so grateful he found her. My mom and Marie were cousins and she so enjoyed connecting with Marie. We stopped to visit Marie at Maria Villa this spring and she was as kind as ever. We will miss seeing her
