Marilyn Emanuel

marilyn emanuel
Marilyn Joyce Emanuel, 68, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Tamarac Lake, Pelican Rapids. Marilyn was born on September 2, 1949, in Devils Lake to Cyril and Anna (Pesek) Shirek. She and her 3 siblings, Shirley (Patterson), Kathryn (Vadnais) and Ken Shirek, were raised in Lawton, ND. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1967, she moved to Fargo. In 1969, Marilyn and Leo Gnoinsky were married and had two children, Crystal (Gnoinsky) Ames and Collin Gnoinsky. In 1977, she and Drew Emanuel were married. After 34 wonderful years of working at Wallworks and Luther Family Ford, the remainder of her life was spent happily retired at their lake home. Marilyn’s pastimes included camping, gardening, and making memories with family and friends. Spending time on her paddleboat “Hope Floats” represented her strength through cancer. Marilyn lived with passion and loved to color outside the lines of life. Whether she was tailgating at NDSU games or walking on the beach in Mexico, she was a constant source of light and love. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and other loved ones. She is survived by Drew, her husband and best friend of over 40 years, her children Crystal (David Krabbenhoft), Collin (Leanne), and grandchildren: Anna, Hailey and Haiden. She is also survived by many other beloved family members. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 4:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 6 PM, both at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND. Marilyn will be laid to rest at the South Grove Lake Cemetery near Pelican Rapids at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 20, 2017. The family wishes to thank her healthcare providers and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their loving care.

  10. My deepest condolences to Marilyn’s husband children and others who will miss her. It is hard to lose a loved one for we were made with the desire to live forever. In the near future God promises that our “last enemy death is to be brought to nothing” 1 Cor 15:26. When that day come we will be reunited with our loved ones like Marilyn and will not have to worry no more. Till then hold on to the wonderful memories with Marilyn and seek God for comfort, he will not abandon you.

  11. Drew, Crystal, Collin, Kathy, Ken, Shirley, Connie, and Charlie.
My deepest sympathy on your loss. Babe’s passing is not only a terrible loss for your family but for everyone who had the privilege to know her. Some of my fondest memories involve Babe. The time her suitcase was mistaken for ours and filled with rice krispies and the time she was accused of having the wrong room when she had the right one.

May the beautiful and happy memories of Babe lighten the burden and the grief that weigh down your hearts today until you are reunited.

    May God bless you all
    Love Dennis

  12. I was sad to learn of Marilyn’s passing. She was a classmate of mine at St. Mary’s High School, Devils Lake, ND. My wife and I recently spent time with Marilyn and Drew in August at our 50th class reunion; enjoyed reminiscing and visiting. My sincere sympathy to Marilyn’s family.

  13. Collin and family – so sorry for your loss. I remember your mom from Ford. I always asked her about you and how you were doing, (we worked at Northside Phillips some years ago). Anyway she was so proud of you and your achievements.

I sure missed talking to her when she retired. She was a great asset to them; very personable.

My thoughts and prayers to you and your family during this difficult time!
