Marjorie Laney

Marjorie E. Weinandt Laney died October 6, 2012 in the Villa Maria Nursing Home surrounded by family.  She was under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Marjorie was born October 31, 1924 near Lakefield, Minnesota to Leo and Elizabeth (Brockling) Weinandt. She attended high school and graduated from Okabena High School in 1941.  She moved to Verona, North Dakota with her parents in 1945. Marjorie was united in marriage to Joe Laney on June 4, 1947 at St. Raphaels Catholic Church, Verona. They lived near Verona until December 1988 when they moved to Fargo upon their retirement.

She was a member of Jones-Benoit Legion Auxiliary of Verona. She taught religion classes at St. Raphael Church for many years.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Joe, six sons: Mark (Charlene), Dallas (Kathy), Raymond (Elizabeth), all of Fargo, Paul (Jackie) and Timothy of Sioux Falls, SD, Joel (Joyce) of Oakes, five daughters: Valerie Fogel and Dr. Mary Laney, Fountain Hills, AZ, Rebecca (Steven) Peterson, Hannaford, ND, Marlene (Timothy) Dufault, Crookston, MN, and Jill (Todd) York, Delano, MN, one sister, Arlene Peterson, Oakes, ND, 21 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Lucille, Alice and Ruth, one daughter, Cathy Iverson, one son-in-law, Glenn Fogel, one grandson and one great-grandson.
