Mark Feist
July 20, 1950 ~ June 14, 2014
Mark Feist, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend departed this world after a brief and difficult battle with cancer. He died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo. His passing leaves a huge void in the lives of his family and friends. He will be loved and missed by them forever.
Mark, the fourth of six children born to Bertha (Klein) and Anthony Feist was born July 20, 1950 in Minot, ND. He grew up and attended school in the Karlsruhe area graduating from Velva High School in 1968. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science and NDSU majoring in Architecture. In the fall of 1970, he volunteered for the US Army and spent his basic training at Fort Lewis, WA. After basic he was sent to Berlin, Germany, where he remained until his honorable discharge in 1972. In the spring of 1973, he began carrying mail with the US Postal Service and in 1975 was promoted to a management position. He remained with the Postal Service for 30 years retiring in 2003.
He married Naomi Mastrud in September of 1974 and in 1982 his twin sons were born. They divorced in 1985. On January 20, 1987, he married Judie Buzick and remained married to her until the time of his death.
Mark loved motorcycles, fast cars, fancy jewelry and good times. Cooking was a favorite pastime and he prepared fabulous meals for those lucky enough to be sharing them. He always had a joke or funny comment, often leaving people at a loss for words. But his greatest love was for his family and the new home that he and Judie built in 2012. He loved visiting and getting together with the neighbors. Family holidays were always filled with lots of love, food and laughter. The big table always had room for one more person. While we will miss him terribly, we have so many happy memories to fill those sad moments. Long live the memory of our beloved “Markie”.
Mark is survived by his wife of 27 years, Judie; mother Bertha, Minot, ND; sons, Blake Feist, Fargo, and Blaine (Jamie Asplin) Feist, Fargo; stepdaughter, Karla (Len Friedt) Buzick, Bismarck; three brothers, Richard Feist, Gayville, SD, Brian Feist, Suwanee, GA, and Donald Feist, Minot, ND.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony, brother, Tony and sister, Lorraine Bossert.

Jim and I were so terribly sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. I am Mark’s Mother’s little sister – – “favorite aunt” – and as I recall the last time we visited, I kept reminding you of how much you looked like Grandpa Klein. Mark , you enjoyed that because Grandpa was a good looking and “good” man. Bless you and God be with you.
Longmont COJudy and family. I was so very saddened to hear of Mark’s sudden passing. I feel so fortunate to have spent some time with both of you this past January. Mark and you treated so well and helped out so much with transporting Mom in the cold. He will be greatly missed. Is there a particular charity that I can donate in Mark’s name? I know you have a lot of family around, but if there is anything I can do, I would love to for you.

Mark as I thought, you had a full house, standing room only, a very nice service! As we talked a while back of my brothers sisters and How we totally enjoyed our annual summer visits to the Feist Family Farm, it made me realize the difference between city and farm life, and the hard work involved, man those bails of hay are heavy! We will see you on the flip side, RIP.

Dear Judie and Family,
This morning I just heard of Mark’s passing and I am so sad and so sorry for your great loss. Markie, Hard to believe just a few short weeks ago we were playing pull tabs (aka:charitable gambling, Ha Ha) and having a few cocktails. You helped so many with your contributions. Will always remember weekends at the lake, especially when you got me out of that “pickle” I was in! I will miss you bro’. RIP

North Tustin, CaliforniaAs a 1st cousin to Mark, I can recall long-ago Sunday eve family visits to the Feist farm near Velva (1950s). The Feist cousins and the Klein girl cousins were all pretty shy at that age, but we always had a good time. My recollection is that Mark was the most outgoing in the family back then (and I can still remember his young boy smile). As I read about Mark now, it’s obvious he was a terrific family man and friend who will be missed by many. My deepest sympathy to all who loved Mark.

San Gabriel CAThough we didn’t get to see each other very often since we lived so far away, when we did, it was a time of quick wit & much laughter! We have wonderful memories of those times and will cherish them! Our love to my cousin, Judie & their children as they adjust and re-live all those special memories. He loved life & though missed by all, he also “lived” a full life for which we are thankful. Love, Sylvia & Al.

Judie, Blake and Blaine,
The Larkin family has many, many fond memories of Mark and all of you while we enjoyed being neighbors at the lake. Although I haven’t seen you all in the past years, after the lake, I remeber those years as some of my best.
One memory I have of Mark is that he was almost always busy. I am certain he washed and waxed his cars, bikes and boats more than anyone I know.
We enjoyed many years of playing pool and golfing. I miss those times. We will all miss Mark. He meant a lot to all the Larkins.
Our prayers are with you all.

Sorry to here about Mark’s passing. I once introduced Mark to another friend (when Mark was wearing his jewelry) and the other guy looked him over and said “A Mr. T starter kit?” He will be missed.
